Safety Specialist CHST (Roofing)
Safety Management Systems is one of the largest providers of Health, Safety, Environmental, Medical and Training services to the Upstream, Midstream, Refinery and Petrochemical markets.
We are currently looking for Safety Inspectors local to Abilene, Texas.
Overview:
This role focuses on ensuring project safety and conducting regulatory inspections for compliance with company, client, federal, and state safety standards at each branch. The selected individual will complete training in the classroom and practical field training with the Safety Specialist/Manager.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Travel as needed for assignments.
  • Aid in preparing safety equipment, pre-job reviews, and planning sessions.
  • Conduct on-site safety reviews of all crews, including service teams, to verify adherence to standards.
  • Audit Fall Protection Plans, safety briefings, and necessary documentation.
  • Handle all safety non-compliance issues according to company safety regulations.
  • Discuss inspection findings with teams and provide safety education.
  • Provide weekly inspection reports to the Operations Manager.
  • Promptly report urgent safety issues, like fall protection breaches.
  • Participate in facilitating monthly and quarterly safety training events.

Job Qualifications:
  • 5 years roofing/ construction experience
  • Must have OSHA 30 or willing to get
  • CHST certification required
  • Strong knowledge and experience with roofing construction, procedures and safety
  • Data Center experience is a plus
  • Knowledge and understanding of OSHA Regulations
  • Excellent communication/ writing skills
  • Strong fall protection knowledge
  • Analytical, leadership, interpersonal, problem solving and organizational / time management skills
  • Excellent follow-up skills
  • Valid state driver's license in good standing required
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred, not required
