Job description

Example of Duties:
  • Position is available for medical laboratory technician in the lab of the Robeson County Health Department.ย 
  • Employee in this role will carry out a variety of laboratory tests in the areas of chemistry, serology, hematology, microbiology and urinalysis. Established quality control and instrument maintenance is a part of the daily duties of the lab tech.ย 
  • Routine venipuncture is also performed.ย 
  • Employee will be a part of a lab team serving all programs of the department.

Education and Experience:
  • Associate degree in medical technology from an appropriately accredited institution or completion of a certified laboratory assistant course in medical technology or a comparable course, and one year of medical laboratory experience; or high school or General Educational Development diploma and three years of medical laboratory experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Valid North Carolina driverโ€™s license required upon hire and duration of employment. Out of state driverโ€™s license will be accepted only if the individual is a permanent resident of that state.
  • Must take and successfully pass a pre-employment drug test, Motor Vehicle Records driver license check, as well as submit to random, reasonable suspicion, and post-accident drug and alcohol testing. A criminal background check must be completed by the County of Robeson for potential applicants
