Position Overview

Riverside Behavioral Health Center is seeking a dedicated Full-Time Mental Health Counselor to join our remote telehealth team. This role is pivotal in enhancing the emotional and psychological well-being of our clients through personalized mental health care. Work Environment

This position allows counselors to engage with clients through our innovative telehealth platform, providing essential services remotely from the comfort of their own homes or preferred environments. Our online facilities include advanced electronic health record systems such as AVATAR, enabling seamless documentation and access to client information. This remote setting promotes flexibility while maintaining high-quality care standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive preliminary interviews to gather client history, ensuring thorough documentation from initial consultations through to treatment completion.
• Evaluate clients’ mental, behavioral, and emotional health through structured assessments to tailor effective therapeutic interventions.
• Develop and implement individualized intervention and recovery plans, catering to diverse needs across individuals, couples, families, and groups.
• Facilitate engaging and effective individual and group therapy sessions, employing evidence-based practices to promote recovery and growth.
• Monitor and document progress on treatment plans, adjusting strategies as needed to align with evolving client needs.
• Work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team including psychiatrists, nurses, and social workers to coordinate comprehensive care.
• Follow up diligently with healthcare providers for clients requiring hospitalization, ensuring continuity and quality of care.
• Identify potential barriers to recovery and develop strategies to mitigate these challenges effectively.
• Support family members and primary caregivers in understanding and managing mental health challenges within their loved ones.

Patient Population / Client Focus

Our counseling services primarily cater to a diverse clientele struggling with various mental health issues, including anxiety, depression, trauma, and relationship stressors. Counselors will engage with individuals from different backgrounds, allowing for the enrichment of therapeutic practices and cultural competence in treatment.

Qualifications

• A Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Mental Health Counseling, Psychology, or a related field from an accredited institution is required.
• Must hold and maintain a valid state licensure as an LMFT, LPC, or LCSW.
• A passing score on the National Counselor Examination (NCE) and/or the National Clinical Mental Health Counselor Examination (NCMHCE) is a prerequisite.
• Demonstrated understanding of the latest psychotherapy methods and techniques is essential.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, allowing for clear and sensitive interactions with clients and collaboration with team members.
• Strong interpersonal skills paired with a compassionate approach to client care.

Preferred Experience

• Prior experience working as a mental health counselor is preferred, preferably in a remote or telehealth setting.
• Familiarity with electronic health record systems, particularly AVATAR, will be beneficial.
• Experience treating clients with concurrent emotional disturbances and addiction disorders is highly desirable.
• Knowledge of best practices recognized by the American Mental Health Counselors Association (AMHCA) will be advantageous.
• Awareness of the impacts of prescribed medications on mental health is an added asset.

Compensation and Benefits
