Job description

Richland Library is seeking to hire a Full-Time Children and Teen Services Coordinator at ourย Main location within the Events and Experience Department.

Sample Duties:

  • Coordinating andย assistingย inย specialย projects,ย meetings,ย staffย trainings,ย servicesย andย eventsย system-wideย to includeย individual branchesย and partnered organizations that serve children,ย teensย and families.ย ย 
  • Assistsย with planning and executingย special eventsย and programs including but not limited to author events,ย Kids in Print, the Summer Learning Challenge,ย Augusta Bakers Dozen, Read Freely Fest, etc.ย ย 
  • Facilitatesย theย contractย processย related toย performer agreementsย andย assistsย withย logisticsย forย internal and externalย events/meetingsย 
  • Maintainย accurateย records and documentation for allย projects,ย eventsย and meetingsย 
  • Assistsย with problem-solving related to customers and staff and with interpreting and communicating library policies and proceduresย 
  • Develops promotional and information materials related toย eventsย throughout the system; respondsย in person, by phone,ย and in writing toย publicย inquiriesย regardingย requestsย 
  • Assistsย in overseeing grants and ensuring complianceย ย 
  • Assistย with requisitionsย (MUNIS)ย and floater schedules when neededย 
  • Manage and respond toย LibAnswersย queueย ย 
  • Coordinate theย internalย Youth and Teen Servicesย meetings, manage communication,ย notesย and agendasย with advisement from Children and Teen Services Managerย 
  • Participate in promotional opportunities for Library events which may include television,ย radio,ย andย otherย interviews.ย ย 
  • Follows organizational, County, and public health and safety guidelines and protocols and performs job functions in a safe manner andย reports all safetyreports all safety hazards per established policies and proceduresย 
  • Attends andย participatesย in staff, and professional group meetings; stays abreast ofย new trendsย and best practices for serving children,ย teensย and familiesย 
  • Greets, engages, andย assistsย diverse customers of theย Libraryย in a welcoming, professional, and respectful manner; successfullyย ascertainsย individualized needs and/or requirements for each customerย 
  • Learns and consistently applies the Richland Libraryโ€™s Customer Engagement Standards providing outgoing, genuine, and high-quality customer service to all internal and external customersย 
  • Will beย requiredย to work outside of standard business hours,ย hazards per established policies and proceduresย 
  • Attends andย participatesย in staff, and professional group meetings; stays abreast ofย new trendsย and best practicesย for serving children,ย teensย and familiesย 
  • Greets, engages, andย assistsย diverse customers of theย Libraryย in a welcoming, professional, and respectful manner; successfullyย ascertainsย individualized needs and/or requirements for each customerย 
  • Learns and consistently applies the Richland Libraryโ€™s Customer Engagement Standards providing outgoing, genuine, and high-quality customer service to all internal and external customersย 
  • Willย beย requiredย to work outside of standard business hours,ย including nights and weekends based on organizational responsibilities and job requirementsย ย 

Requirements:ย 

Bachelorโ€™sย degree inย Education, Early Educationย orย related field; supplemented byย at least two (2) years ofย directly relatedย experienceย working with children,ย teensย or families; or an equivalent combination ofย education, certification, training, and/or experience.ย 

Certifications and Licenses:ย ย 

  • Mustย possessย and maintain aย validย State of South Carolinaย Driverโ€™sย License and the ability to drive aย Libraryย owned vehicle per established policies, procedures, and safety guidelinesย 
Location, Salary & Hours:

Where:ย Richland Library Main, 1431 Assembly St, Columbia, SC 29201

Salary:ย $48,000 - $52,000 plus excellentย benefits.

Hours:ย 37.5 hours per week: Monday - Friday (9:00 am- 5:30 pm) with possible evenings and weekends.

Job Classification Level P2 (FLSA Status: Non - Exempt)

** Richland Library may change location and schedule of any library job.
