Job description

Senior Production SupervisorPosition Summary

Tarkett is seeking an experienced manufacturing leader to serve as Senior Production Supervisor at our Chagrin Falls manufacturing campus.

This position is a working leadership role responsible for supporting daily production operations while also leading and developing assigned Production Supervisors across paired day and night shifts. The Senior Production Supervisor helps ensure consistent execution across the North and South plants in safety, quality, delivery, cost, staffing, housekeeping, and employee accountability.

The successful candidate will provide hands-on operational leadership, strengthen shift-to-shift communication, coach supervisors, and support continuous improvement through World Class Manufacturing practices.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead safe and effective production operations across assigned shifts and both manufacturing buildings.
  • Provide direct leadership, coaching, and performance management for assigned Production Supervisors.
  • Establish clear shift priorities and ensure consistent execution across paired day and night shifts.
  • Monitor safety, quality, schedule attainment, productivity, downtime, scrap, staffing, and housekeeping performance.
  • Review shift reports, handoffs, investigations, root-cause analyses, and corrective actions for accuracy and completion.
  • Hold supervisors accountable for following company procedures, operating standards, ISO requirements, and the union contract.
  • Coordinate staffing and production resources between the North and South plants based on business needs.
  • Support supervisors in resolving production, employee-relations, quality, and equipment issues.
  • Partner with Safety, Quality, Engineering, Maintenance, Scheduling, Training, Human Resources, and Supply Chain.
  • Use WCM and visual shop-floor management tools to identify trends, establish facts, and improve results.
  • Lead and support continuous-improvement projects involving safety, quality, productivity, cost, and equipment performance.
  • Identify supervisor and employee training needs and coordinate development activities.
  • Promote respectful employee relations and consistent application of company policies and work rules.
  • Escalate significant operational, safety, quality, staffing, or employee-relations concerns to the Production Manager.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; bachelor's degree preferred.
  • At least three to five years of manufacturing supervisory or leadership experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead employees and develop other supervisors.
  • Experience in a union manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of production operations, safety, quality, staffing, and performance management.
  • Experience with Lean manufacturing, WCM, or visual shop-floor management.
  • Ability to analyze production data, identify problems, and take timely corrective action.
  • Strong communication, coaching, conflict-resolution, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to interpret production schedules, product specifications, quality requirements, and performance reports.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel; experience with SAP, ADP, or similar systems is preferred.
  • Ability to work a four-on, four-off, 12-hour day-shift schedule and provide reasonable off-shift support when required.

The Senior Production Supervisor remains actively involved in production operations while carrying expanded responsibility for supervisor leadership, cross-shift coordination, and sustained operational performance.
