JOB MISSION

The Visual Merchandising Specialist optimizes the in-store consumer journey by precisely executing visual merchandising strategies, product presentation, styling, and in-store marketing within New Balance stores. This full-time role dedicates 20 hours per week (2-3 days) specifically to visual updates and needs, seamlessly integrating with general retail operations for the remainder of scheduled hours. Key responsibilities include collaborating on VM implementation, assisting with in-store training, and translating seasonal visual learnings to foster store-wide visual excellence.

MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES

Visual Merchandising Execution

  • Execute all VM directives, planograms, and brand standards in store.
  • Strategically adapt and implement seasonal visual elements and marketing moments according to guidelines.
  • Develop and execute VM strategies to optimize product sell-through and sell-down, adapting displays based on performance data.
  • Oversee all signage (pricing, promotional) for accuracy, currency, and strategic placement.

Training and Development

  • Lead and execute training for new and current associates on New Balance aesthetics and VM practices.
  • Share best practices and provide guidance on advanced visual merchandising techniques.
  • Deliver feedback and hands-on training related to brand standards and display techniques.

Collaboration and Communication

  • Act as the primary liaison between the store and the Visual Merchandising team for directives and strategies.
  • Proactively manage and submit monthly photos, product, and sales feedback to the Visual Merchandising team.
  • Actively participate in all store meetings, communicating VM standards and training the team.

Inventory Management

  • Actively manage display product inventory, ensuring timely replenishment and streamlined processes for team maintenance during peak hours.
  • Maintain organized and accessible VM props, tools, and fixtures for efficient updates.

REQUIREMENTS FOR SUCCESS

  • Strong visual merchandising skills, attention to detail, and organizational abilities.
  • 2+ years of experience in visual merchandising, team leadership, and customer service within a retail environment. Additionally, having strong knowledge of product inventory, preferably in footwear and/or apparel.
  • Knowledgeable about current fashion and visual merchandising trends.
  • Detail-oriented and self-motivated to maintain high standards.
  • Collaborative, with the ability to analyze reports and take initiative in merchandising adjustments.
  • Strong customer service and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a team environment.
  • Familiarity with cash register functions and basic math skills.
  • Adaptable work schedule, including early mornings or late nights during peak times or special events. Including weekends and holidays.
  • Willingness to perform additional duties as needed to support the business.

Physical ability:

  • Lift 4 lbs. frequently; up to 8 lbs. occasionally.
  • Kneel or squat frequently.
  • Push or pull 50 lbs. over 200 ft. occasionally.
  • Stand for extended periods.
  • Climb ladders and stairs as needed.
NYC Only Pay Range: $21.70 - $27.05 - $32.55 Hourly (actual base pay varying based upon, but not limited to, relevant experience, time in role, internal equity, geographic location, and more.)
