Job description

This role goes beyond placing orders, building strong supplier relationships, optimizing inventory levels, and helping drive the success of our sourcing strategy.

What You'll Do

  • Own the purchasing process for select raw materials, ensuring timely and cost-effective procurement that supports our production demands.
  • Use our ERP system to monitor and manage inventory—preventing shortages, avoiding excess, and maintaining optimal turns.
  • Prepare and execute purchase orders aligned with planning needs and supplier capabilities.
  • Partner with the Planning and Receiving teams to track usage, adjust stocking strategies, and proactively update material categories.
  • Communicate updates or changes in pricing, delivery timelines, or sourcing strategy to key stakeholders.
  • Analyze inventory and supplier performance using data-driven tools and reports.
  • Collaborate with Strategic Sourcing to identify and vet new suppliers; foster supplier partnerships through proactive communication and follow-up.
  • Lead the RFQ process—soliciting, comparing, and recommending bids based on cost, lead time, quality, and service.
  • Work cross-functionally to resolve invoice discrepancies, quality issues, and engineering change impacts.
  • Maintain item records and supplier data accurately in our systems.
  • Monitor supplier performance and drive corrective actions when needed.

What You Bring

Education & Experience:

  • 3–5 years of experience in buying, procurement, or inventory control OR an associate’s degree in business, Supply Chain, or a related field.
  • Professional certifications (e.g., APICS, ISM, SCM) are a strong plus.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ERP/purchasing systems.

Skills & Strengths:

  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
  • Confident communicator who thrives on collaboration.
  • Ability to read basic technical specifications and contracts.
  • Foundational negotiation and project management skills.
  • Able to work independently and take initiative on day-to-day tasks.

This position will require the successful completion of a standard background check in accordance with Restek policy. Employment with Restek will require successful completion of a pre-employment drug screen.

This position has been approved for a hybrid work arrangement.
