Job description

Director of Manufacturing

Regular Full-Time Bellefonte, PA, US

Restek is looking for a Director of Manufacturing to lead our headquarters manufacturing organization: its strategy, its performance, and its financial results. This is one of the most consequential leadership roles in the company. You'll operate with significant autonomy, own multi-year decisions on capacity, automation, and capital investment, and be the senior voice manufacturing brings to the table when partnering with Supply Chain, Quality, Engineering, R&D, and Commercial leadership.

You’ll lead through a team of managers and supervisors, with final decision-making authority on significant operational issues and major capital investments. Just as important, you’ll be accountable for the culture on the floor: building an employee centered environment where high performing teams do their best work, and modeling the kind of accountable, safety-first leadership Restek expects at the senior level.

What You’ll Do

Manufacturing

  • Own overall production performance across headquarters manufacturing, driving productivity, throughput, cost reduction, and operational excellence
  • Direct the allocation of people, equipment, materials, and capital, and own the compliance and data systems that let the business scale
  • Serve as the final decision-making authority for significant operational disruptions and systemic manufacturing issues
  • Own the multi-year manufacturing strategy: capacity, footprint, automation, technology, and make versus buy decisions that align to where the company is headed
  • Partner with R&D and Product Management on manufacturing feasibility and new product scale-up, so quality and delivery are engineered in from the start
  • Set the performance metrics and governance cadence used to monitor manufacturing performance and prioritize improvement investments
  • Own the manufacturing organization’s operating and capital budgets and cost centers, and the financial and productivity targets tied to them
  • Build the business cases that win executive approval for major investments in equipment, facilities, and systems

Leadership

  • Build, lead, and develop the manufacturing management team, and establish the succession plans that secure the leadership pipeline
  • Own organizational design, workforce planning, and staffing strategy to meet current commitments and scale with the business
  • Build and model a culture of accountability, safety, and engagement that exemplifies Restek's expectations of senior leaders
What You’ll Bring

The typical requirements for this role include a bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, chemistry, or a related field and 15 years of progressive manufacturing experience, including leadership of multiple departments or sites at the Director or Senior Manager level or the equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • A track record of owning operating and capital budgets, and of leading major change: capacity expansion, new product scale-up, automation, or operational transformation
  • Strong grounding in Lean, Six Sigma, or similar continuous improvement methods, plus the financial acumen to manage cost centers and CAPEX
  • A bachelor's degree in business, engineering, chemistry, or a related field (or equivalent experience); an advanced degree is a plus

Employment with Restek will require successful completion of background check(s) and pre-employment drug screen in accordance with Restek policies.
