Job description

Join a team dedicated to maintaining mission-critical environments as an HVAC Technician III. In this lead technician role, you will oversee the installation, maintenance, and operation of advanced mechanical systems in a data center setting. This position offers the opportunity to provide guidance and mentorship to junior technicians while ensuring the reliability and efficiency of essential HVAC equipment. Responsibilities
  • Lead and perform preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on a wide range of HVAC equipment, including air and water-cooled chillers, centrifugal and screw package chillers, natural gas boilers, unit heaters, electric duct heaters, cooling towers, and various water pumps.
  • Operate and maintain HVAC air distribution systems, including air handling units (AHUs), fan coil units (FCUs), fans, and related devices.
  • Work with pneumatic, direct digital controls (DDC), and variable frequency drive (VFD) systems.
  • Maintain, upgrade, and back up Building Automation Software as required.
  • Monitor compliance with contractual commitments and ensure all work meets quality and safety standards.
  • Supervise, mentor, and provide technical guidance to junior technicians, supporting their professional development.
  • Participate in on-call rotations and respond to emergency service requests as needed.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the supervisor.
  • Maintain regular and reliable attendance.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Completion of a basic air conditioning theory class.
  • Minimum of 7 years of large commercial HVAC service experience required; 8 years preferred.
  • Proficient in the use of HVAC diagnostic tools and instruments.
  • Experience with DDC, pneumatic, and variable frequency drive controls.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office or related software.
  • Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Universal Certification preferred.
  • Virginia Journeyman HVAC license preferred.
  • OSHA Certification preferred.
  • Valid Virginia or Maryland driver’s license required.
  • U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain security clearance preferred.
