About the Role:

The Laundry Attendant plays a vital role in maintaining the cleanliness and presentation of linens, uniforms, and other fabric items within an organization. This position ensures that all laundry tasks are completed efficiently, meeting high standards of hygiene and quality. The Laundry Attendant is responsible for operating washing and drying machines, sorting laundry by fabric type and color, and handling delicate items with care. Attention to detail and adherence to safety protocols are essential to prevent damage to fabrics and maintain a safe working environment. Ultimately, this role supports the overall operational excellence by providing clean and well-maintained textiles that contribute to a positive experience for customers and staff alike.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Basic literacy and numeracy skills to read labels, follow instructions, and maintain records.
  • Ability to operate standard laundry equipment safely and effectively.
  • Physical capability to stand for extended periods, lift heavy loads, and perform repetitive tasks.
  • Attention to detail to identify stains, fabric types, and ensure quality standards are met.
  • Willingness to follow safety protocols and maintain a clean working environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience working in a laundry or similar environment.
  • Familiarity with industrial laundry machines and chemical detergents.
  • Basic knowledge of fabric care and stain removal techniques.
  • Good organizational skills to manage workflow efficiently.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities:

  • Sort laundry items according to color, fabric type, and washing requirements to prevent damage and ensure optimal cleaning.
  • Operate washing machines, dryers, and other laundry equipment safely and efficiently, following manufacturer guidelines.
  • Inspect laundered items for stains, damage, or wear and perform additional cleaning or repairs as necessary.
  • Fold, iron, and organize clean laundry for distribution or storage, maintaining neatness and order.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the laundry area, including routine cleaning of machines and workspaces.
  • Track inventory of laundry supplies and report shortages or equipment malfunctions to management promptly.
  • Adhere to all health and safety regulations, including proper handling of chemicals and use of personal protective equipment.

Skills:

The Laundry Attendant uses attention to detail daily to sort and inspect laundry items, ensuring that fabrics are treated appropriately and quality standards are maintained. Physical stamina and manual dexterity are essential for operating machinery, handling heavy loads, and performing repetitive tasks safely.
