Description: Financial Analyst

The Ascendancy Group's Mission

To be the unequaled provider of special operations forces (SOF) and Intelligence Community focused technical, service, and training-based solutions.

Opportunity

The Ascendancy Group is seeking three experienced Financial Analysts to support Naval Special Warfare Group One at Naval Amphibious Base Coronado in San Diego, California. This is an opportunity to provide direct financial management support to a mission focused Naval Special Warfare organization. You will work closely with NSWG 1 leadership, department heads, and stakeholders to help ensure resources are planned, executed, tracked, and reported accurately in support of operational readiness.

Overview

As a Financial Analyst, you will support budget planning, execution, analysis, and reporting for NSWG 1 Total Obligation Authority. You will develop spend plans, monitor financial execution, analyze spending trends, prepare budget exhibits, process funding requests, and provide leadership with accurate, timely recommendations that support responsible use of government funds. The ideal candidate understands Department of Defense financial management practices and can work independently in a high accountability environment while communicating clearly with military and civilian stakeholders.

Security Requirement:

Active U.S. Government Secret security clearance required at the start of employment and must be maintained throughout the period of performance.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Develop annual and multiyear spend plans supporting NSWG 1 budget submissions and command timelines
  • Monitor budget execution, identify spending trends, shortfalls, and surpluses, and recommend corrective actions
  • Analyze financial data and provide leadership with recommendations to support obligation targets and mission priorities
  • Compile information from Navy, joint, and service level financial systems to prepare recurring and ad hoc budget reports
  • Prepare budget exhibits and supporting documentation using prescribed Department of Defense templates
  • Process and analyze funding requests for fiscal compliance, proper purpose, correct color of money, bona fide need, and appropriate accounting structure
  • Support accurate, legal, and efficient execution of Total Obligation Authority
  • Create clear financial briefings, spreadsheets, reports, and executive level updates
  • Coordinate closely with NSWG 1 staff, department heads, and other stakeholders to resolve budget and execution issues
  • Maintain accurate records and protect classified, sensitive, proprietary, and business sensitive information
  • Support required contract deliverables, quality control requirements, security procedures, and drug free workforce requirements
Requirements:

Position Requirements:

  • U.S. citizen with an active Secret security clearance
  • Minimum of four years of specialized experience in Department of Defense budget planning, formulation, execution, financial analysis, or a closely related financial management field
  • Familiarity with current military financial management concepts, policies, procedures, and budget processes
  • Ability to develop spend plans, monitor obligations and expenditures, analyze execution trends, and prepare financial reports
  • Working knowledge of fiscal law concepts, including the proper color of money and bona fide need rule
  • Experience preparing budget exhibits, funding requests, financial justifications, and leadership briefings
  • Ability to analyze data from service level and joint financial systems
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Valid U.S. driver's license
  • Ability to work independently while coordinating effectively with military, government, and contractor personnel
