MEDICAL BILLER

St. George, UT

Position Summary

The Medical Biller is responsible for accurate and timely medical billing, coding, claims follow-up, and collections for a busy pediatric medical clinic. This position works closely with medical providers, insurance carriers, patients, and clinic staff to ensure services are coded correctly, claims are submitted promptly, denials are resolved, and outstanding balances are collected.

Primary Responsibilities

·       Prepare, review, and submit accurate medical claims to commercial insurance, Medicare/Medicaid, and other payers as applicable.

·       Assign and verify appropriate ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS codes based on provider documentation and services performed.

·       Review claims for coding accuracy, required documentation, payer requirements, and clean-claim submission.

·       Post insurance and patient payments, adjustments, contractual allowances, and other account activity.

·       Follow up on unpaid, underpaid, rejected, and denied claims; research issues and submit corrections or appeals when appropriate.

·       Manage accounts receivable and work aging reports to reduce outstanding balances and improve collections.

·       Contact insurance companies to verify claim status, benefits, authorizations, and payment information.

·       Communicate professionally with patients regarding balances, statements, payment arrangements, and billing questions.

·       Identify recurring billing or coding issues and work with providers and staff to improve documentation and reimbursement.

·       Maintain accurate patient account records and protect confidential information in accordance with HIPAA requirements.

Qualifications

·       3 to 5+ years of medical billing, coding, collections, or revenue cycle experience preferred.

·       Working knowledge of ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS, insurance billing, denials, and accounts receivable.

·       Experience with electronic medical records (EMR/EHR), practice management, and claims systems.

·       Strong attention to detail, organization, follow-through, and problem-solving skills.

·       Ability to communicate effectively with providers, insurance representatives, patients, and coworkers.

·       Medical billing or coding certification is preferred but not required.

Ideal Candidate

A dependable, detail-oriented medical billing professional who understands the complete revenue cycle and takes ownership of claims from initial coding and submission through final payment and collection.

Hourly rate is between $27 to $32 per hour with access to OT, if desired, Health Insurance, 401(K), and 2-weeks accruable PTO in the 1st rolling year of employment. If you are qualified and interested, send your resume. Potential for hybrid work available. We look forward to talking with you soon!
