Job description

Job Summary: The Injection Molding Operator is responsible for monitoring injection molding machines to produce high-quality plastic components.

This role ensures machines run efficiently, parts meet quality standards, and production goals are achieved.

Key Responsibilities:

Machine Operation:

  • Operate injection molding machines according to standard operating procedures and work instructions.
  • Set up machines for production runs, including loading materials and verifying parameters.
  • Monitor machine performance to maintain product quality and minimize downtime.

Quality Assurance:

  • Inspect parts for quality, checking for defects and ensuring they meet specifications.
  • Document inspection results and report quality issues to the Shift Supervisor.
  • Follow quality control procedures to maintain high standards of production.

Troubleshooting and Maintenance:

  • Identify and report basic equipment malfunctions and report issues requiring technical assistance.
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks such as cleaning machines and checking fluid levels as needed.

Safety and Compliance:

  • Adhere to all safety policies and procedures, wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area to promote a safe working environment.
  • Participate in safety training sessions and report any safety concerns to the Shift Supervisor.

Production Efficiency:

  • Monitor production rates and strive to meet or exceed established targets.
  • Work with team members to identify and implement process improvements.
  • Maintain accurate production records, including downtime.

Team Collaboration:

  • Communicate effectively with supervisors, team members, and other departments.
  • Assist in training new operators and sharing best practices.
  • Contribute to a positive work environment by supporting team goals and initiatives.

Supervisory Responsibilities: This position has no supervisory requirements


Qualifications and Requirements

  • Education: High School Diploma or GED
  • Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: None
  • Required Experience: Basic manufacturing experience preferred
  • Computer Skills: Basic Microsoft programs (i.e. Word, Excel, SharePoint, etc.)
  • Travel Requirements: None
  • Other Qualifications/Requirements or Skills:
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and understanding of manufacturing processes.
  • Ability to read work orders and safety/quality standards.
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to understand written and verbal English communication.
