Position Overview

Preferred Therapy Center is actively seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Full-Time Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) to enrich our team in Baltimore, Maryland. Work Environment

This position is onsite at our fully equipped hospital facility in Baltimore, where teamwork and collaboration are at the forefront of our operations. The schedule typically runs from Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with occasional adjustments to accommodate patient needs. Here, you will be supported by a team of healthcare professionals, including Physical Therapists, Occupational Therapists, and Speech-Language Pathologists, all working together to ensure optimal patient outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist Physical Therapists in devising and executing personalized treatment plans tailored to improve patients' mobility, strength, and daily functioning.
  • Conduct therapeutic exercises and training sessions with patients, carefully guiding them through stretches and activities that alleviate pain and enhance physical well-being.
  • Educate patients and their families on effective body mechanics and home exercise routines, empowering them to take an active role in their recovery process.
  • Administer various modalities such as electrical stimulation, ultrasound, and heat/cold therapy under a Physical Therapist’s supervision to expedite healing.
  • Monitor patient progress diligently, documenting aspects such as range of motion and strength improvements to ensure treatment plans remain effective and responsive to patient needs.
  • Prepare treatment spaces and ensure equipment is in working condition and easily accessible, fostering an organized therapeutic environment.
  • Engage with a multidisciplinary team to coordinate care strategies that enhance patient recovery outcomes.
  • Provide emotional encouragement and support to patients, creating a nurturing atmosphere that promotes resilience and motivation throughout their rehabilitation journey.
  • Maintain high standards of professional ethics, ensuring all patient information remains confidential and respecting the rights and dignity of each individual.
Patient Population / Client Focus

Our patient demographic is diverse, encompassing individuals across various ages and backgrounds, including those recovering from surgery, athletes needing rehabilitation from injuries, elderly patients managing chronic conditions, and children undergoing therapy for developmental challenges. The successful candidate will have the adaptability to work with a wide range of conditions and populations, delivering personally tailored care.

Qualifications
  • Completion of an Associate degree from an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program is required.
  • A valid state license or certification as a Physical Therapist Assistant is mandatory.
  • Strong foundational knowledge of human anatomy, physiology, and prevalent therapeutic interventions involved in physical therapy.
  • Proficiency in executing therapeutic exercises and modalities under the guidance of supervising Physical Therapists.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a keen ability to connect with patients and collaborate effectively within a healthcare team.
  • A compassionate approach to care, demonstrating patience and kindness towards patients as they pursue rehabilitation goals.
  • Detail-oriented, with robust organizational skills and the ability to manage time efficiently.

Preferred Experience
  • Prior experience working as a Physical Therapist Assistant in a hospital or clinical setting is advantageous but not mandatory.

  • Familiarity with electronic health records systems and documentation software.
Compensation and Benefits
