About the Organization

At Practical Solutions Counseling, we specialize in providing comprehensive youth and family support services aimed at assisting primary caregivers of children and teens grappling with developmental and intellectual disabilities. Our mission is to empower families while respecting their unique challenges and strengths. We believe that every child deserves the opportunity to thrive, and we strive to offer our clients the best support and guidance available.

Work Environment

This role is primarily remote, allowing you to conduct therapy sessions from the comfort of your home or other suitable locations. You will engage with clients in an innovative and flexible manner, offering in-home therapy and virtual support that aligns with our community-focused philosophy. Collaboration is a key component of our practice; you will work closely with a multi-disciplinary team ensuring each child receives holistic care tailored to their needs.

Key Responsibilities

As a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist at Practical Solutions Counseling, your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

  • Conducting individual and group therapy sessions in clients' homes or through remote platforms, focusing on personalized mental health support.
  • Implementing behavioral interventions aimed at anger management, social skills development, and addressing high-risk behaviors such as self-injurious behavior (SIB) and physical aggression.
  • Enhancing decision-making skills for youth and their caretakers to better manage behavioral challenges at home.
  • Collaborating with the Child Family Treatment Team and other professionals to ensure a cohesive approach to each child's therapy plan.
  • Completing and submitting all required documentation, including intake forms, treatment plans, and progress notes, in accordance with specified timelines.
  • Participating in monthly team meetings to discuss progress, share insights, and provide recommendations for ongoing treatment strategies.
Patient Population / Client Focus

You will focus on assisting a diverse population of children and adolescents aged 3-20, many of whom face complex challenges due to developmental disabilities and intellectual difficulties. Your role will be instrumental in delivering tailored therapeutic interventions that address their specific needs, enabling them to develop essential life skills and fostering healthier family dynamics.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate must possess the following qualifications:

  • A Master's degree in Counseling, Family Therapy, Social Work, or a closely related field.
  • An active and unrestricted LMFT license issued by the appropriate state board.
  • Availability for a minimum of 5-10 hours per week, particularly during after-school hours (4 PM - 7 PM), with weekend availability considered an asset.
  • Experience and competence in providing positive behavior support to children and families.
Preferred Experience

Preferred candidates will also bring:

  • Previous experience working with children diagnosed with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD).
  • A valid driver's license and access to a registered vehicle for potential in-home visits.
  • Successful completion of a criminal background check, including fingerprinting.
Compensation and Benefits

We offer a competitive salary ranging from $60,000 to $80,000 per year, commensurate with experience and qualifications. In addition, our benefits package includes:

  • A supportive and energetic work environment conducive to personal and professional development.
  • Comprehensive group health coverage and annual paid time off.
  • Ongoing training opportunities to enhance your skills and advance your career.
