DESCRIPTION
\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nABOUT THE ALAMEDA COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE\r\nThe Alameda County Sheriff's Office is a full-service law enforcement agency accredited through the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA) for its law enforcement services, its Regional Training Center, and its Dispatch Unit; the American Society of Crime Laboratory Directors Laboratory Accreditation Board for its Crime Lab; the Bomb Squad Commanders Advisory Board for its Explosive Ordinance Unit. Additionally, the agency's health care provider, Wellpath, has experience working with the National Commission on Correctional Health Care (NCCHC).\r\n\r\n\r\nThe Sheriff's Office has a current budget of approximately $600 million and has over 1600 authorized positions, including in excess of 1000 sworn personnel. The agency's Chief Executive Officer is Sheriff / Coroner Yesenia L. Sanchez, who is assisted in the operation of the agency by Undersheriff April Luckett-Fahimi, Assistant Sheriffs Daniel McNaughton and Pace Stokes.\r\n\r\n\r\nThe Sheriff of Alameda County is responsible for a vast array of tasks and duties, including the following:\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n Providing security to the Consolidated Superior Courts\r\n Operating the Coroner's Bureau\r\n Operating full-service criminalistics laboratory\r\n Performing Civil Process\r\n Operating a County Jail (Santa Rita)\r\n Operating the County Office of Emergency Services\r\n Providing patrol and investigative services to the unincorporated areas of Alameda County\r\n Pursuant to contractual agreements, providing patrol and investigative services to the City of Dublin, Oakland International Airport, Highland County Hospital, Social Services, and to the Alameda-Contra Costa Transit District\r\n Conducting a basic academy pursuant to Police Officer Standards and Training (P.O.S.T.) requirements. Assignments, particularly the operational supervisory roles, vary widely, but all positions are found in departments with multiple budgets and funding sources and/or extensive contracts with various service providers or community-based organizations. This class differs from Financial Services Officer, which has full management responsibility for financial services for an agency or department, and, in addition, typically supervises a staff of professional and/or paraprofessional employees.\r\n\r\n
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
EITHER \r\nExperience: \r\n\r\nThe equivalent to two years of full-time experience at the level of or higher than the class Financial Services Specialist II in the Alameda County classified service (non-classified includes District Attorney's Office, Hospital Authority, and the Consolidated Courts). \r\n\r\nCompletion of the Alameda County Management Academy "Management & Supervision Certificate Program" may be substituted for six (6) months of the required qualifying experience for the internal patterns. \r\n\r\nOR \r\nEducation: \r\n\r\nThe equivalent to graduation from a four-year accredited college or university (180 quarter units or 120 semester units) with major coursework in business or public administration, economics, financial planning or a field related to the work. \r\n\r\n\r\nEducation: \r\n\r\n(Additional professional or paraprofessional financial planning and support experience may be substituted for the education on a year-for-year basis.) \r\n\r\nExperience: \r\n\r\nThe equivalent to two years of full-time professional-level experience in independently performing financial planning or analysis, budget development and processing, contract negotiation and administration and/or grants management at a level equivalent to or higher than the County class of Financial Services Specialist II in the Alameda County classified service. Some prior lead or supervisory experience is desirable. \r\n\r\nLicense: Possession of a valid California Motor Vehicle Operator's license. \r\n\r\nNOTE: The Civil Service Commission may modify the above Minimum Qualifications in the announcement of an examination. \r\n
