    Job description

    Pet Food Express is seeking an experienced Class A Delivery Driver with a strong work ethic to deliver to our stores throughout the Northern California region. Reporting to the Transportation and Logistics Manager, Delivery Drivers are responsible for delivering both palletized and un-palletized freight using a company vehicle. Our drivers typically work 8–9 hours per day, 5 days per week, use late model tractors, and operate on pre-traffic early shifts. As a driver with Pet Food Express, you will be responsible for transporting goods from our warehouse facility to our storefronts, which includes abiding by all traffic laws and ensuring safe unloading and delivery at each destination.

    This posting supports current and upcoming openings within our transportation team based on operational needs.

    Responsibilities:
    • Perform pre and post trip vehicle inspections
    • Maintain interior cleanliness in the vehicle
    • Practice safe and accident free driving methods
    • Comply with truck driving rules and regulations as well as with company policies and procedures
    • Deliver and unload freight using electric pallet jack and lift gate
    • Learn, understand and follow proper pallet placement at each delivery location
    • Verify all product being delivered arrives at correct location
    • Load frozen goods directly into freezers at our stores
    • Arrive at scheduled times for each delivery
    • Report route or equipment issues, defects, accidents or violations to Transportation and Logistics Manager
    • Obtain approval for any and all route or cargo deviations
    • Maintain log book as required
    • Complete all transportation related documentation
    • Adjust yard trailers for proper docking for next day deliveries
    • Drop off and pick up equipment serviced by our outside maintenance company
    Qualifications:
    • Minimum 3 years verifiable driving and delivery experience with a Class A CDL
    • Possess a valid Class A Commercial Driver License (CDL)
    • No current CDL suspension or past revocations
    • Must have a clean driving record and continuous dedication to upholding high safety standards (MVR printout required at interview)
    • Must be able to pass a DOT physical, drug test and background checks
    • Ability to work Tuesday through Saturday as scheduled (12:00AM, 1:00AM, or 2:00 AM start time)
    • Self-starter with a positive, team player attitude and passion for contributing to the overall success of the team and PFE
    • Excellent organizational and time management skills and dedication to quality and accuracy
    • The ability to balance details, quick decision-making, and quality control while maintaining a strong personal ownership of daily routes
    • Strong and effective communication skills, with the ability to provide accurate written detail for reports and documentation
    • The desire and ability to build strong relationships with individuals and teams
    • Strong commitment to customer service expectations and delivering on time

    The salary range for this position is expected to be $37.00/hr - $38.00/hr. Pet Food Express determines starting salary based on many factors, including but not limited to, local market rate, the qualified pool of candidates, internal compensation practices, a candidate’s actual skills and experience.
