Scope of Position

Overnight Shift Position

Our client is seeking an experienced Production Supervisor to lead overnight manufacturing operations and ensure the team consistently delivers safe, efficient, and high-quality results. In this hands-on leadership role, you will oversee daily shift operations, coordinate production activities, assign work, ensure appropriate staffing, and provide direction and support to production employees. You’ll be responsible for keeping the shift running smoothly while maintaining a strong focus on safety, quality, productivity, and operational performance.

A key part of this position is people leadership. You will coach and develop team members, address performance issues, reinforce expectations, and create an environment where employees are engaged, accountable, and positioned for success.

Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee daily shift production activities, ensuring safety, quality, productivity, and operational objectives are achieved.
• Supervise hourly production employees, communicate expectations, assign work, and ensure appropriate staffing across production lines.
• Coach and develop team members through regular feedback, counseling, performance management, and recognition.
• Manage employee timekeeping and consistently administer company policies, procedures, and workplace expectations.
• Monitor production performance and identify opportunities to improve efficiency, staffing, workflow, and resource utilization.
• Lead and support continuous improvement initiatives while fostering collaboration within production and across departments.
• Identify production performance gaps, recommend improvements, and implement corrective actions.
• Participate in recruiting, interviewing, onboarding, training, mentoring, and employee development.
• Champion a strong safety culture by promptly addressing safety concerns, monitoring safe work practices, and participating in facility safety tours, audits, and plant safety programs.
• Ensure product quality and food safety through adherence to product and packaging specifications, SQF requirements, OSHA standards, and applicable food safety procedures.
• Verify equipment readiness at the beginning of each shift, communicate equipment issues, and initiate maintenance work orders when necessary.
• Partner closely with Maintenance to communicate equipment concerns and follow up on completed or scheduled repairs.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams and provide thorough shift handoffs to incoming leadership to maintain continuity and performance.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

• Bachelor's degree preferred; a combination of college education and relevant manufacturing experience will also be considered.
• 4–5 years of progressive manufacturing experience, preferably within a food manufacturing environment.
• Previous experience supervising multiple employees in a production or manufacturing setting.
• Experience working with industrial food manufacturing equipment strongly preferred.

Skills & Qualifications

• Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate, coach, and develop a diverse workforce.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and critical-thinking abilities.
• Working knowledge of workplace safety requirements, including OSHA and applicable federal and state regulations.
• Knowledge of food processing, HACCP, GMPs, sanitation, and food safety practices preferred.
• Comfortable using computers, business systems, and standard desktop software.
• Ability to manage competing priorities and make effective decisions in a fast-paced production environment.
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments.
