Who We Are:

The Hospital for Veterinary Surgery (HVS), the first surgery-exclusive veterinary hospital in New York City, continues to broaden our reach and grow our cutting-edge clinical team. Practicing modern medicine in a state of the art, clinician designed practice, we offer unparalleled surgical care with a personal touch in the heart of Manhattan.

We're looking for a confident, highly skilled Veterinary Assistant to join our team.

Whether your background is in general practice, emergency or you've already worked in surgery or critical care, this is a unique opportunity to take your skills to the next level in a state-of-the-art hospital designed for learning, teamwork, and excellence.

In this role, you'll work as a Veterinary Assistant rotating across a range of support areas. You'll be trained and supported to grow your technical confidence in a fast-paced, well-resourced specialty environment.

What You'll Do:

Provide compassionate, hands-on care to surgical and hospitalized patients

Assist Doctor and Technicians in providing a seamless client and patient appointment experience

Handling and restraint of patients for consultation exams and patient sample collection

Handling and submission of patient samples to in-house and external laboratory

Thorough cleaning, organization, and stocking of appointment exam rooms and appointment treatment area

What We Require:

1-2+ years of experience as a Veterinary Assistant in GP, ER, or specialty

Experience with practice management software, (ezyVet is our in-house platform)

Adaptability, being able to pivot effortlessly while demonstrating a positive attitude with clients and co-workers

Sound judgment with the ability to work ethically, independently, and responsibly

Dedication to excellent service for each client and patient and respect for coworkers

Flexibility, curiosity, and the desire to help build something new

What We Offer:

The salary range for this role is: $22.00 - $26.00 per hour

We pay for up to four semesters of tuition directly and support you along the way with structured check-ins and flexibility to complete required externships. After graduation, we also cover your VTNE exam and licensure fees, with no post-graduation work commitment required.
