Job description

Federal Telecommunications Engineer (RCDD)

Location: Onsite - 5 days/week in Overland Park, KS / Denver, CO / Arlington, VA (specify worker location on submittal)

Citizenship Requirement: US Citizenship Required - Federal

Employment Type: Temp to perm

The Opportunity

In this role, you will perform the following:

  • Lead communication designs and coordinate with other disciplines
  • Create conceptual and detailed systems designs, including producing design drawings, specifications, and design analysis deliverables
  • Coordinate with a BIM/CAD team for drawing production
  • Perform quality control duties and independent technical reviews
  • Manage assigned budgets, scopes, and schedules
  • Mentor and provide guidance/instruction to less experienced staff members

Other potential duties:

  • May perform fieldwork and write assessment reports
  • May assist with the creation of design guides and templates
  • May provide support to business development or pursuit activities

Our primary areas of focus are: Architecture/Engineering (A/E) Services, Defense Program, Design/Build, Classified, and Environmental.

Preferred Qualifications

As part of this role, you will be assigned to projects supporting U.S. Government Agency/Department clients. Due to the nature of the work, candidates must be a U.S. Citizen. The following are preferred qualifications:

  • Knowledge of NEC, IEEE, EIA, TIA, BICSI industry standards, codes, and best practices related to the design of Information and Communications Technology (ICT), low voltage, and telecommunications systems
  • Strong knowledge of structured cabling systems from a safety and constructability perspective
  • Strong knowledge of inside plant (ISP) cabling infrastructure to include telecommunications spaces and pathways, copper, and optical fiber cabling and connectivity
  • Experience in outside plant (OSP) design of copper and fiber optic communication systems
  • Experience in audio-visual (AV) system design
  • 4 years of experience designing applicable telecommunication systems
Minimum Qualifications

All applicants must be able to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements (if selected) which may include any/all of the following: criminal/civil background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle records search, in compliance with any applicable laws and regulations.

Certifications
  • Registered Communications Distribution Designer (RCDD) certification (required)
  • Certified Technology Specialist-Design (CTS-D) certification (preferred)
