Job Description Summary
ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT:
Located on the first floor of Massie Hall, the Student Success Center (SSC) is the hub of learning and academic support on campus. The SSC is here to help students succeed. You'll find study tables, computers for use, professional academic advisors, and learning support that includes academic coaching, peer tutoring, and supplemental instruction (SI).The SSC also handles testing for the campus and community.
POSITION SUMMARY, ROUTINE TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES:
In the Student Success Center our student employees are the first point of contact with other students, faculty, and the community. They use interpersonal skills to communicate with others to determine exactly what they need. Student employees will work with the SSC staff and professional advisors. Knowledge of the SSU campus and various departments will be gained through running errands and helping students navigate campus. Students can be expected to open and close the center and occasionally help with events on weekends. Student employees will schedule appointments, answer phone calls and greet visitors. Student employees will also assist the Testing Coordinator with proctoring exams.
• Will be FERPA trained and confidentiality is a must
Minimum Qualifications
  • Registered full-time SSU student
  • Eligible to work in the United States
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrate reliability, punctuality, and follow instructions
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office and social media platforms
  • Follow SSU dress code policy
