Job description

Job Description Business Systems Analyst - Healthcare Data Integration - REMOTE - USC Only The Opportunity We are seeking an experienced Business Systems Analyst (BSA) to support healthcare technology and data integration initiatives. This role will serve as a key liaison between business stakeholders and technical teams, translating business needs into clear functional and technical requirements and helping ensure solutions are successfully delivered. The ideal candidate will bring strong traditional Business Systems Analyst experience along with hands-on knowledge of SQL, APIs, SFTP, Kafka, Agile methodologies, and FHIR/healthcare data.

Experience supporting healthcare data integrations involving major Electronic Health Record (EHR) platforms such as Epic or Oracle Health is highly preferred. What You'll Do Partner with business owners and stakeholders to understand business needs, workflows, processes, project specifications, and data requirements. Gather, analyze, document, and translate business needs into detailed business and functional requirements, functional designs, and system specifications.

Serve as a liaison between business stakeholders, developers, architects, analysts, and other technical teams. Analyze existing applications and processes to determine requirements for enhancements and change requests. Analyze data to identify business problems, trends, data discrepancies, and opportunities for process improvement.

Support healthcare data integration initiatives involving APIs, SFTP, Kafka, SQL, and FHIR. Use SQL to analyze, validate, and troubleshoot data. Participate in integration testing, system testing, and User Acceptance Testing (UAT).

Verify that delivered solutions meet documented business and technical requirements. Perform root-cause analysis and assist in developing corrective action plans when issues are identified. Identify, document, communicate, and escalate project risks, defects, and issues throughout the project lifecycle.

Facilitate problem-solving and decision-making sessions with business and technical teams. Develop and maintain process documentation, workflows, procedures, requirements, and training materials. Participate in Agile ceremonies and work closely with development teams throughout the software development lifecycle.

Support continuous process and operational improvement initiatives. For smaller projects or initiatives, assist with project schedules, deliverables, resource coordination, and risk management. Required Qualifications 3-5 years of Business Analyst or Business Systems Analyst experience.

Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and professional experience. Strong experience gathering and documenting business and functional requirements. Experience working between business stakeholders and technical/development teams.

Strong SQL skills. Experience with API integrations. Experience with SFTP.

Experience working in an Agile environment. Knowledge of FHIR and healthcare data. Experience with or knowledge of Kafka.

Experience with application and/or data integration testing. Strong documentation skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities. High attention to detail. Proficiency with Microsoft Office.

Preferred Qualifications 3-5 years of experience supporting healthcare data integration initiatives. Experience working with healthcare or health insurance organizations. Experience integrating data with major EHR platforms, particularly Epic and/or Oracle Health.

3-5 years of experience working with Kafka. 3-5 years of hands-on SQL experience. Strong understanding of FHIR standards and healthcare interoperability.

Experience troubleshooting complex healthcare data integrations. What We're Looking For We're looking for someone who can comfortably operate between the business and technical sides of an organization. You should be able to meet with stakeholders, understand what they need, translate those needs into detailed requirements, and then work closely with technical teams through development, integration, testing, and implementation.

This is an excellent opportunity for a Business Systems Analyst with healthcare data integration experience who understands technologies such as SQL, APIs, SFTP, Kafka, and FHIR and enjoys solving complex business and data problems. For recruiting purposes, I would lead with "Business Systems Analyst - Healthcare Data Integration" rather than simply "Business Analyst." The Epic/Oracle Health + FHIR + Kafka + API + SQL combination is specialized, and putting healthcare data integration in the title should help attract candidates with the right background.
