Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct comprehensive mental health assessments of elderly clients to identify specific psychological needs and develop individualized treatment plans.
  • Deliver both individual and group therapy sessions, utilizing evidence-based interventions that address mental health issues related to aging, such as depression, anxiety, and grief.
  • Work closely with multidisciplinary healthcare teams to design and implement holistic care plans that cater to the physical and emotional needs of our geriatric residents.
  • Provide education and support to families and caregivers about effective strategies to enhance the emotional well-being of elderly individuals.
  • Facilitate grief and loss counseling sessions for clients and their families, helping them process end-of-life issues and transitions.
  • Initiate cognitive stimulation activities and mental wellness programs aimed at improving cognitive function in elderly clients.
Patient Population / Client Focus

This role primarily focuses on elderly clients, including those coping with significant life changes, health-related issues, loneliness, and grief associated with loss. As a Senior LMHC, you will be instrumental in helping seniors rediscover hope and coping mechanisms, targeting their specific mental health challenges while ensuring the provision of compassionate care.

Qualifications
  • A Master's degree in Mental Health Counseling from an accredited institution.
  • Current and valid Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) credential.
  • A minimum of 4 years of recent practice experience focused on geriatric mental health counseling and support.
  • Extensive knowledge of aging-related issues and evidence-based therapies targeting mental health in older adults.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to effectively connect with elderly clients and establish trusting therapeutic alliances.
  • Demonstrated empathy and cultural awareness to support a diverse aging population.
Preferred Experience
  • Specialization or additional training in geriatric mental health, grief counseling, or cognitive therapy.
  • Experience working within multidisciplinary teams to coordinate comprehensive care.
  • Proven ability to conduct in-depth assessments and create personalized treatment strategies.
  • Familiarity with legal and ethical standards surrounding mental health care for older adults.
Compensation and Benefits
