Work Environment

The Nurse Practitioner will work onsite at a local school in Yonkers, where the emphasis is on fostering a safe and supportive environment for students. Key Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough health assessments and screenings for students of varying ages, identifying both acute and chronic health issues.
• Diagnose and manage medical conditions, prescribing appropriate treatments and ensuring preventive care services are delivered effectively.
• Collaborate with teachers, school counselors, and parents to develop targeted health education programs tailored to the needs of the school community.
• Advocate for students’ rights to access healthcare, while providing culturally sensitive care that acknowledges the diverse backgrounds of the student population.
• Coordinate referrals to specialists and ensure follow-up care systems are in place to maintain continuity of care.
• Maintain accurate and detailed medical records adhering to regulatory standards and electronic health records (EHR) protocols.
• Participate actively in community outreach programs and health fairs to raise awareness about health resources available to the school community.
• Stay abreast of current developments in community health trends and evidence-based practices to continuously improve service delivery.

Patient Population / Client Focus

In this role, you will primarily serve the student population of the school, addressing a wide range of health concerns including asthma, allergies, dietary needs, and behavioral health. Your approach will be compassionate and tailored to the unique challenges faced by students, ensuring that their healthcare experiences are positive and supportive.

Qualifications

• A Bachelor's Degree in Nursing from an accredited program.
• Certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) or equivalent from the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) or the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP).
• Current, unrestricted Nurse Practitioner (APRN) license in New York State.
• Valid DEA and NPI numbers.

Preferred Experience

• A minimum of 2 years of clinical experience, with preferred expertise in community health, school-based health, or pediatrics.
• Strong clinical assessment and diagnostic capabilities to address a wide range of health issues.
• Experience in implementing health education programs aimed at children and adolescents.

Compensation and Benefits

The Nurse Practitioner position offers a competitive annual salary ranging from USD 150,000 to 160,000, commensurate with experience. In addition to the base salary, a sign-on bonus of up to $10,000 is available for qualified candidates.
