Job description

Position Summary: The Distribution Center Team helps Mud Bay put our mission into action by making sure the products stocked in the Mud Bay warehouse get to our stores on a consistent, accurate, and timely basis. The Warehouse I executes daily order picking and inventory replenishment processes while ensuring the Distribution Center is kept safe, clean, organized, and in efficient working order.

 

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Inventory Picking: Picks, packs, and stages shipments for transfer to Mud Bay stores as needed. Ensures individual pick rate meets current goals of the warehouse.
  • Stock Replenishment: Replenishes primary pick locations as needed from overstock locations following FIFO standards.
  • Bin Location Assignment: Assigns new bin locations consistent with the layout schema of the warehouse and established pick path for optimal efficiency.
  • Warehouse Organization & Cleanliness: Responsible for keeping the warehouse clean, neat, organized as designed, free of rodents and a safe place to work.
  • Safety: Follows established safety procedures and practices safe-work techniques. Completes required monthly safety trainings as assigned.
  • Pick Accuracy: Maintains an accuracy rate of 98% or greater.
  • Inventory Control: Performs cycle counts as assigned.
  • DC Support: Provides additional support to the DC team as needed or assigned by the Warehouse Manager, Assistant Manager, or Shift Supervisors.

  • Attention to Detail: Keeps the warehouse clean, neat, organized, and a safe place to work. Maintains an accuracy rate of 98% or greater, and ensures pallets are wrapped safely and effectively for stores.
  • Time Management: Uses time effectively and efficiently. Prioritizes efforts based on urgency and need.
  • Judgement: Uses established policies and procedures and makes safe decisions, asks for help when needed.
  • Adaptability: Demonstrates resilience and adaptability in the face of obstacles, balancing competing demands and shifting priorities.
  • Action Oriented: Takes action when needs arise; identifies opportunities and proactively addresses problems.

Leadership Expectations:

  • This is not a supervisory position.

Physical Activities:

  • Frequently lifts and carries up to 50 pounds.
  • Reaches overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping.
  • Grasps, turns, and manipulates objects of varying size and weight.
  • Climbs up and down ladders.
  •  Enters and locates information on a handheld scanner and a computer.
  • Reads and visually verifies information, often in fine print. 
  • Prolonged periods of standing and walking. 

Qualifications:

  • Must be 18 years or older.
  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent
  • Competent with basic math, comfortable using computers and handheld scanners.
  • Flexibility adapts to a work schedule that reflects the needs of coworkers and Mud Bay.

Job Details:

  • Hours: This is a full-time hourly position that requires working varying shifts including mornings, afternoons, and weekend days.
  • Location: This position is based out of the Distribution Center in Lacey, WA.
  • Travel: May require travel to the Home Office in Olympia on a quarterly basis.
  • Primary Team: As part of the Distribution Center team, this position reports to the Warehouse Manager, Warehouse Assistant Manager, or Shift Supervisor.
  • Compensation: The pay band for this position is $20-$30 per hour with the starting wage at $20.00.
  • Benefits: This position is eligible for Mud Bay’s standard benefits package including medical, dental, and vision; Mud Bay’s Employee Stock Ownership Olan (ESOP); staff discount on Mud Bay purchases; 401K contribution matching by tier.
