Employment type: Full-Time

Job Summary Step into the only Controls/Automation Engineer role at a high-volume copper rod mill—a hot, foundry-style facility powering the U.S. wire & cable supply chain. You’ll own Siemens PLC systems from troubleshooting to commissioning, spending 70%+ of your time on the plant floor keeping 24/7 production running. Ideal for a self-directed Siemens PLC expert ready to tackle downtime, lead upgrades, and drive projects like reactivating Fanuc robots. Start ASAP with full autonomy, strong leadership support, and a clear path to senior engineering or management roles.

Required Skills & Qualifications · Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Engineering Technology (EET), Mechatronics, Automation Engineering, or closely related field · 3+ years of Controls/Automation engineering in a manufacturing environment · Strong hands-on Siemens PLC programming & troubleshooting (TIA Portal priority) · Proven ability to work independently as the sole controls resource on-site · Comfortable in hot, industrial foundry conditions (copper rod production) · Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship

Preferred Skills & Qualifications · AutoCAD experience for schematics and panel design · Fanuc robotics exposure (project to get robots operational) · SAP or comparable ERP system knowledge · Power distribution experience · PMP certification

Day-to-Day Responsibilities · Spend 70%+ on the plant floor troubleshooting & maintaining Siemens-based control systems · Program, modify, and commission PLC/HMI logic to sustain 24/7 production · Lead sustaining fixes and capital projects (e.g., Fanuc robot reactivation) · Partner with maintenance techs and operators to resolve urgent issues · Document changes in SAP and update electrical drawings in AutoCAD · Flex past 5 PM as needed to support critical plant operations

Physical and Environment Requirements Physical expectations and working conditions include: 70%+ plant floor time in a hot, industrial foundry-style environment (copper rod production), extensive walking/standing, occasional lifting up to 25 lbs, exposure to loud noise and heat. Standard schedule 8 AM – 5 PM with flexibility for longer days. Minimal travel (<10%).

Company Benefits & Culture · Salary $100K–$120K + 5% annual bonus (company & individual performance) · Relocation package capped at $10,000 (lump-sum or coordinated move) · Comprehensive benefits: 401(k) with match, pension eligibility, full medical/dental/vision, life & disability · Generous PTO, paid holidays, tuition reimbursement, parental leave · Autonomy-driven culture—Maintenance Manager empowers engineers to own their scope with support as needed · Clear growth track: Electrical Engineer III → Maintenance Manager → Engineering Manager and Aligns
