Job description

Join us for an exciting new Japanese restaurant, located right by Little Island, and be a key player in crafting unforgettable culinary experiences for our guests.

Position Summary:


At Miru, our Line Cooks are integral to delivering exceptional dining experiences that reflect our commitment to quality, creativity, and consistency. Working under the guidance of the Sous Chef and Executive Chef, Line Cooks are responsible for preparing and executing dishes that align with our culinary philosophy.

Tasks/Responsibilities:

โ— Prepare and produce a variety of high-quality dishes as per guest orders, while following approved recipes & specifications in an accurate and timely manner
โ— Perform work on different kitchen line stations as per business demands
โ— Cook menu items in alignment with the kitchen team to deliver dishes simultaneously at appropriate time
โ— Weigh and measure ingredients; properly use recipes in order to produce dishes up to standard
โ— Maintain a thorough working knowledge of recipes, ingredients, allergens, and food presentation
โ— Ensure that food quality, quantity, freshness, and presentation meet Miru standards
โ— Maintain department cleanliness and organization, adhere to safe work and equipment practices, and follow all food safety, health and sanitation standards
โ— Properly store and/or discard leftover food
โ— Set up, stock stations, and replenish kitchen inventory and supplies as needed
โ— Ensure all products and prepared items are labeled, dated, initialed, covered, and rotated following FIFO
โ— Exhibit mindfulness of volume due to open kitchen setting
โ— Follow all company policies, procedures, and guidelines including being ready to work at scheduled shift time, in uniform, with neat and presentable appearance
โ— Perform all other reasonably assigned duties

Qualifications
  • Minimum 2 yearsโ€™ experience in a high-volume, fast-paced kitchen or food service setting

  • Strong knife skills and proficiency in diverse cooking techniques

  • Knowledge of kitchen equipment, ingredients, and sanitation standards

  • Ability to follow recipes precisely and execute consistent results

  • Dependable, detail-oriented, and efficient under pressure

  • Strong communication and teamwork skills

  • Flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays

  • Capable of lifting up to 50 lbs and standing/walking for the duration of shift
