Job description

We are hiring Journeyperson Metal Fabricators for a union shipbuilding project in North Vancouver, BC! This is a contract running from June 2026 through October 2026, with the potential for extension. Location: North Vancouver, BC
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 40 hours per week minimum (overtime available)
Type: Contract (June 2026 – October 2026) with potential for extension
Start Date: June 2026

Compensation & Benefits

  • Hourly Rate: $59.29/hour
  • Overtime: All overtime paid at double time
  • Union Benefits: $9.15/hour in employer-paid union health and pension benefit

Living Out Allowance (LOA) – Tax Free- Paid 7 days
To support meals and daily expenses:

  • Month 1: $107.35/day
  • Month 2: $85.07/day
  • Month 3+: $56.76/day
Relocation Support (Non-Local Candidates)
  • Flights provided at the start and end of the contract
  • Fully furnished apartment provided

  • Daily LOA paid throughout the assignment

Key Responsibilities

  • Fabricate, fit, assemble, and install structural steel and ship components.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, work packages, and fabrication specifications.
  • Lay out, measure, mark, and prepare materials for assembly and installation.
  • Fit bulkheads, foundations, brackets, decks, and structural assemblies to required tolerances.
  • Operate fabrication tools and equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Perform structural modifications, repairs, and installations as required.
  • Work safely at heights, in confined spaces, and in outdoor marine environments.
  • Meet shipbuilding quality standards, safety requirements, and production targets.
  • Follow all site safety procedures and contribute to a safe and productive work environment.

Qualifications

  • Valid Journeyperson Metal Fabricator certification (Red Seal preferred).
  • Minimum 4 years of metal fabrication, fitting, structural steel, or shipbuilding experience.
  • Strong ability to read and interpret fabrication drawings and blueprints.
  • Experience fitting and assembling structural steel components.
  • Experience using common fabrication tools and equipment.
  • Shipbuilding, heavy industrial, or structural steel experience is considered a strong asset.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced production environment.

Additional Requirements

  • Full PPE required.
  • Must be legally eligible to work in Canada. We do not provide LMIA support or work permit sponsorships. 
  • Background and security checks required.
  • Willingness to relocate to North Vancouver for the duration of the contract.
