Job description

The Greenleigh River Oaks – Opening Summer 2026

In a world where natural beauty meets big-city sensibilities, The Greenleigh invites sophisticated travelers and locals to escape to an urban oasis flavored by unexpected creativity. With a coveted location neighboring the charms of River Oaks and the vibrant energy of Uptown, The Greenleigh is the one place that truly celebrates—and elevates—the unexpected nature of Houston.

At The Greenleigh, first impressions set the tone for every memorable dining experience. We are seeking friendly, polished, and service-oriented Hosts/Hostesses who are passionate about hospitality and committed to creating a warm, welcoming atmosphere for every guest from the moment they arrive.

This role serves as the first point of contact for guests, working closely with restaurant leadership, servers, and support teams to manage seating flow, coordinate reservations, and ensure an exceptional arrival and departure experience.

Requested Tasks:
  • Greet guests warmly upon arrival and provide a friendly, professional first impression.
  • Manage reservations and waitlists using the restaurant reservation system while maintaining accurate seating assignments.
  • Escort guests to their tables and present menus in a courteous and welcoming manner.
  • Coordinate table seating to maximize efficiency while maintaining balanced server sections and an exceptional guest experience.
  • Communicate effectively with servers, managers, and support staff regarding table availability, special requests, and guest needs.
  • Answer telephone calls, respond to guest inquiries, and assist with reservation requests in a professional manner.
  • Monitor the restaurant entrance, lobby, and waiting areas to ensure they remain clean, organized, and inviting.
  • Assist with guest departures by thanking guests and inviting them to return.
  • Support restaurant operations by assisting with light side work, menu maintenance, and other duties as assigned.
  • Follow all company policies, service standards, and health and safety regulations.
Requested Capabilities:
  • Previous host, customer service, or hospitality experience preferred but not required.
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills with a genuine passion for guest service.
  • Friendly, professional, and polished appearance and demeanor.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to remain calm, composed, and solution-oriented during busy service periods.
  • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to delivering exceptional hospitality.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout scheduled shifts.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and special events.
  • Experience with reservation management systems is preferred but not required.

As part of the Makeready collection, we proudly offer a variety of thoughtful benefits and perks for eligible team members including accommodating PTO/PTO exchange, medical/dental/vision benefits, maternity/paternity leave, pet insurance, company-matched dependent care & 401k, student loan repayment program and a wide range of additional ancillary benefits. The health, happiness and well-being of our team is our top priority.

We take pride in our Guiding Principles to help define how we successfully work together. We follow them not out of duty but live by them instinctively.
