Dock & Door Product Specialist
Summary
The Dock & Door Product Specialist is responsible for selling LiftOne's comprehensive portfolio of commercial and industrial dock and door products, services, and maintenance solutions. This position will develop new business opportunities, support established customers, and partner closely with Material Handling Consultants, Account Managers, service operations, technicians, manufacturers, and other internal teams throughout the assigned region.
The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of consultative selling and the ability to identify customer needs, perform site surveys, recommend appropriate solutions, and manage opportunities throughout the sales process. The Dock & Door Product Specialist will promote product awareness, application knowledge, and service capabilities while helping customers improve the safety, productivity, reliability, and efficiency of their facilities.
Essential Functions
  • Develop and execute a regional sales plan for new and replacement dock and door equipment, repair services, planned maintenance agreements, modernization projects, and related facility solutions.
  • Call on existing and prospective customers through outside sales, cold calling, referrals, networking, and collaboration with LiftOne's Material Handling Consultants and Account Managers.
  • Identify and develop opportunities involving loading dock equipment, dock levelers, vehicle restraints, dock seals and shelters, commercial and industrial doors, high-speed doors, rolling steel doors, sectional doors, fire doors, safety products, and related accessories.
  • Promote and sell planned maintenance agreements, inspections, emergency repair services, equipment upgrades, and lifecycle-management solutions for customers' dock and door assets.
  • Conduct comprehensive site surveys to document existing equipment, operating conditions, measurements, electrical requirements, safety concerns, application needs, and recommended solutions.
  • Develop accurate scopes of work and collaborate with estimating, operations, service, installation, and manufacturer partners to prepare customer proposals.
  • Recommend appropriate dock and door solutions based on customer applications, facility conditions, traffic flow, safety requirements, energy-efficiency goals, and operational needs.
  • Demonstrate equipment and communicate product features, benefits, limitations, and recommended applications to customers and internal sales teams.
  • Coordinate with service operations and installation teams to ensure accurate project handoff, scheduling, communication, and execution.
  • Maintain detailed records and prepare reports covering sales activities, opportunities, forecasts, pipeline development, customer interactions, and results within Salesforce CRM and other applicable systems.
  • Maintain current knowledge of manufacturer training, product developments, applicable industry standards, safety requirements, and changes to LiftOne's Dock & Door product and service offerings.
  • Conduct product and sales-process training for Material Handling Consultants, Account Managers, branch personnel, and other internal stakeholders.
  • Assist regional sales teams with customer presentations, facility assessments, proposal development, product selection, and competitive positioning.
  • Establish pricing for new equipment, replacement equipment, repair projects, planned maintenance agreements, and modernization solutions in accordance with company guidelines.
  • Evaluate existing equipment and assist with replacement, modernization, and trade-in recommendations when applicable.
  • Communicate product availability, lead times, pricing trends, and project requirements to customers and internal stakeholders.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with customers, manufacturers, vendors, contractors, and internal business partners.
  • Remain informed about competitive products, market activity, industry trends, and emerging customer needs within the Dock & Door market.
  • Secure and renew customer orders, service agreements, and planned maintenance contracts while coordinating equipment delivery and project timelines.
  • Coordinate sales activities with Regional Sales Managers, branch leadership, Material Handling Consultants, Account Managers, service leadership, and technicians.
  • Support strategic account initiatives and help expand LiftOne's Dock & Door presence within existing customer relationships.
  • Participate in customer meetings, trade shows, sales events, branch meetings, and other business-development activities as needed.
  • Assist with collection activities when necessary.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Education and/or Experience
  • Associate's degree from a two-year college. Bachelor's degree preferred
  • Two to four years of related sales, technical, material-handling, commercial construction, facility-services, or industrial-equipment experience preferred.
  • Driving is an essential function of this position, and a current valid driver's license must be maintained at all times. Must be able to meet company requirements for auto insurance coverage

Computer Skills
Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint. Experience with Salesforce or a similar customer relationship management system is preferred.
Language Skills
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
