What you'll bring to the team

As the Security Systems Specialist, you will take ownership of guest and staff safety through oversight of a robust technology program. Under direction from the Security Operations Manager, you will aid in the design, plan, and maintenance of all closed-circuit television (CCTV), electronic access control, credentialing, key and lock systems, and two-way radio devices and infrastructure. Day-to-day support will consist of oversight of processes, procedures, and technical support for the LEGOLAND California Resort. In concert with security leadership, you will train all security personnel on Resort security systems. As the Security Systems Specialist, you will adhere to legal and procedural guidelines in addition to industry best practices resulting in a safe experience for everyone on Resort grounds.

Essential Job Functions:

Security Operations:

  • Collaborates with the Health and Safety, Profit Protection, Information Technology, Facilities, Ride Safety, and other stakeholders to identify operational, safety, and security requirements and ensure appropriate CCTV coverage throughout the resort.
  • Develops, implements, and maintains processes for CCTV systems including monitoring system performance, ensuring video quality standards, and overseeing video retention and storage requirements.
  • Supports senior security management in developing and maintaining operating procedures and training programs for CCTV systems, electronic access control systems, credentialing processes, key and lock systems, and two-way radio communications equipment.
  • Administers the Key & Lock Program, including maintaining electronic and physical key inventories, coordinating with locksmith vendors, managing requests for lock & key services, and ensuring service charges accurately correspond to work performed.
  • Supports security leadership with the administration and maintenance of access control systems. Responsibilities include system configuration, maintenance programming, preliminary troubleshooting, coordinating repairs, managing web-based applications, reviewing system logs, coordinating the delivery of supplies and accessories, and supporting capital improvements projects, as necessary.
  • Maintains the Resorts two-way radio equipment and supporting infrastructure through coordination with and oversight of the vendor of record.
  • Supports incident response activities by ensuring security systems are properly configured, maintained, updated, and fully operational to support effective and investigative efforts.
  • Ensures compliance with all Merlin Entertainments and LEGOLAND California Resort protocols and procedures.
  • Serves as a member of the LEGOLAND California Resort security department.
  • Supports the Security Operations Manager with other duties as assigned.

Operational Management and Reporting:

  • Supports day-to-day security operations through budget tracking, expenditure monitoring, and forecasting of technical security equipment system, and operational requirements.
  • Manages and executes departmental purchases through the organization's procurement system.
  • Supports senior security management for awareness and training of all new security personnel, ensuring a thorough understanding of security procedures and systems.
  • Monitors performance using Resort Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and security-specific Key Effectiveness Indicators (KEIs) to identify trends, measure effectiveness, and support continuous improvement of security operations.
  • Provides regular updates on technology improvements, relevant statistics, and trends.
  • Works closely with the senior security management to prioritize, coordinate, and complete assigned tasks in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Supports senior security management to produce risk assessments to identify security, operational, and system vulnerabilities, and ensure findings are documented, reported, tracked, and escalated for resolution.
  • Complies with policies and procedures set forth within the Merlin Entertainments Group Health, Safety and Security Policies.
Qualifications & Experience

Experience and qualifications

  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • Knowledge and/or experience in a technical role supporting physical security systems within attractions, entertainment venues, or similarly complex operational environments.
  • Knowledge and/or experience configuring, maintaining, and troubleshooting network connectivity for IP cameras, video management systems (VMS), and electronic access control devices.
  • Demonstrated understanding of IP-based physical security systems, including configuration, maintenance and troubleshooting of networked CCTV/video surveillance cameras and electronic access control devices.
  • Knowledge of bandwidth management and network performance considerations for video streaming and storage.
  • Strong understanding of security procedures, safety protocols, and emergency response procedures.
  • Strong ability to work collaboratively within a team environment and effectively support cross-functional partners.
  • Ability to maintain composure under pressure and resolve problems effectively.
  • Effective communication skills with the ability to convey complex security and technical information clearly.
  • Commitment to maintaining a safe, secure, and welcoming environment for both guests and staff.
