Our Android engineering team builds performant, highly interactive mobile experiences that support livestream viewing, live purchasing, chat, notifications, payments, account management, and marketplace functionality for a rapidly growing global audience.

About the Role

We are seeking an Android Software Engineer to help scale the Fanatics Live Android platform and deliver high-quality mobile experiences for collectors around the world.

This engineer will partner closely with Product, Design, Backend, and Platform Engineering teams to develop modern Android applications supporting livestream commerce and real-time engagement experiences.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, test, and maintain Android applications and platform components for Fanatics Live
  • Build scalable, responsive, and resilient mobile experiences supporting livestream shopping and collector engagement
  • Collaborate with backend engineers and product stakeholders to define and implement APIs and mobile workflows
  • Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested Kotlin code following Android best practices
  • Contribute to architectural discussions, technical planning, and mobile platform improvements
  • Optimize application performance, reliability, accessibility, and user experience
  • Participate in release management, CI/CD improvements, and operational support
  • Help improve observability, crash reporting, and mobile quality standards
  • Conduct code reviews and support mentorship across the engineering team
  • Stay current with Android ecosystem trends, libraries, and development patterns

Required Qualifications

  • 3+ years of professional Android development experience
  • Strong proficiency in Kotlin and modern Android development practices
  • Experience with Jetpack Compose and Android architecture components
  • Familiarity with REST APIs, mobile networking, and asynchronous programming
  • Experience building scalable consumer-facing mobile applications
  • Understanding of mobile application performance optimization and testing strategies
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and version control systems
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills within cross-functional environments
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical field, or equivalent practical experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting livestreaming, marketplace, or e-commerce mobile applications
  • Familiarity with GraphQL, WebSockets, or real-time communication technologies
  • Experience with Firebase, analytics, experimentation platforms, and observability tooling
  • Exposure to mobile security and authentication best practices
  • Passion for sports, collectibles, creators, or digital communities

Code-Writing Contribution

This role requires strong hands-on Android development expertise. Engineers at this level are expected to independently deliver production-ready mobile features, contribute to application architecture and technical design discussions, and maintain high standards for code quality, scalability, and user experience consistent with role expectations.
