Job Description
The Senior Director, Credit Asset Management will be responsible for multiple diverse portfolios of commercial real estate loans originated and held by Invesco's growing commercial real estate lending business line. The role will include oversight of third-party asset managers and leadership of loan modifications, complex workouts and resolutions.
Key Responsibilities / Duties:
  • Manage third party asset management team comprising 15 dedicated employees of Bellwether Asset Management. Establish standards, responsibilities and expectations. Monitor team performance and oversee work product to ensure consistency with Invesco standards.
  • Train third party asset management team and ensure accountability to Invesco standards.
  • Actively evaluate performance of individual asset managers and recommend hires, promotions, performance improvement plans, and terminations.
  • Ensure completion of third party scope of work within specified deadlines. Evaluate additional scope of work as necessary. Negotiate third party contracts.
  • Lead communication and delegation of responsibilities between Invesco in-house credit team and third party asset management team.
  • Proactively monitor portfolio level performance, with a focus on Watchlist, sub-performing and non-performing loans.
  • Review third party work product and assign ad hoc tasks.
  • Oversee all loan asset management matters including payoffs, prepayments, lease reviews/approvals, SNDAs, reserves, escrows, draw requests, cash management, easements, financial reporting, post-closing items, waiver, modifications, valuation process and borrower requests.
  • Lead the execution of loss-minimizing recovery strategies such as note sales, workouts, restructures, and/or foreclosure.
  • Collaborate with internal loan originators and accounting team, as well as third-party servicer(s), capital markets team, lenders and legal counsel to drive optimal outcomes for Watchlist, sub-performing and non-performing loans.
  • Lead risk rating process, identify problem / watchlist loans, develop monitoring plans, and recommendations.
  • Lead monthly and quarterly loan valuations processes by managing external and internal valuations professionals and external loan asset managers with valuation oversight responsibilities. Proactively communicate with Portfolio Management team.
  • Identify and implement process efficiencies, best practices and/or standard operating procedures.

Work Experience / Knowledge:
  • 15+ years of commercial loan asset management or underwriting experience preferred.
  • Construction loan, mortgage workout and senior/sub (ie mezzanine) experience is strongly preferred.
  • Strong management skills with attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to manage and collaborate with multiple external groups (third party asset manager, third party servicer) and internal groups (portfolio management, valuations, underwriting, origination)
  • Demonstrated expertise in workouts and special situations.
  • Highly proficient user of Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
  • Proficient quantitative analysis, research, and problem-solving capabilities.

Formal Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in finance or related field.
  • MBA strongly preferred.

Working Conditions:
  • 5 days in-office in Century City, California.
  • 25% travel

The total compensation offered for this position, which includes salary and incentive pay, will vary based on skills, experience and location. The salary range for this position in Los Angeles is $180,000 to $250,000 annually.
