Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct comprehensive evaluations to assess the intensity, frequency, and duration of mood disorder symptoms in clients, utilizing standardized assessments and clinical interviews.
  • Develop individualized treatment plans based on client needs, personal goals, and evidence-based practices, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT).
  • Facilitate individual and family therapy sessions, providing guidance and support to help clients cope with their challenges and improve their mental health.
  • Educate clients and families about mood disorders, viable treatment options, and practical self-care techniques to promote transparency and collaboration in the therapeutic process.
  • Monitor and document client progress, making necessary adjustments to treatment plans and interventions to ensure optimal outcomes.
  • Collaborate with psychiatrists and other healthcare professionals to provide holistic care to clients, ensuring all aspects of their well-being are addressed.
  • Stay abreast of current research and trends in the treatment of mood disorders, integrating new insights into therapeutic practices as appropriate.
  • Adhere to legal and ethical guidelines by maintaining accurate and confidential client records.
  • Engage in professional development opportunities, including workshops and training sessions, to enhance clinical skills and knowledge.
  • Advocate for clients’ needs within the mental health landscape, working to reduce stigma related to mental health issues.
Patient Population / Client Focus

This role primarily focuses on a diverse range of clients dealing with mood disorders. You’ll engage with individuals of various ages, backgrounds, and experiences, assisting them in overcoming challenges such as depression, anxiety, and relationship issues. Your expertise in marriage and family therapy will be crucial in addressing the complexities of familial relationships and their impact on mental health.

Qualifications
  • A current and valid state license as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) is required.
  • A Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy is mandatory for candidacy.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, crucial for establishing a safe and trusting therapeutic relationship with clients.
  • Demonstrated empathy and a nonjudgmental attitude toward clients’ experiences, facilitating a supportive environment for therapeutic progress.
