Job Title: Health and Safety Coordinator
Location: Gouverneur, NY 13642
Employment Type: Full-Time, Permanent

Position Summary:

We are seeking a dedicated Health and Safety Coordinator to lead and support workplace safety initiatives and ensure compliance with MSHA and other regulatory standards. This role is instrumental in promoting a positive safety culture across all departments and maintaining a safe working environment both underground and on the surface.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop, implement, and continuously improve health and safety policies, procedures, and programs.

  • Ensure compliance with MSHA and applicable federal, state, and local safety regulations.

  • Conduct regular safety training and educational sessions for staff.

  • Perform risk assessments and routine safety inspections in both surface and underground work areas.

  • Investigate workplace incidents and accidents, and develop preventative strategies.

  • Accompany MSHA inspectors during quarterly or unscheduled site visits.

  • Recommend and help implement risk control measures.

  • Coordinate annual physicals and hearing tests for employees.

  • Prepare and assist with weekly and monthly health & safety reporting.

  • Maintain accurate records of safety training, inspections, investigations, and regulatory documentation.

  • Collaborate across departments to foster a strong safety-first culture.

  • Perform additional duties as reasonably assigned.


Required Qualifications:
  • Proven experience in workplace safety and MSHA regulatory compliance.

  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills with the ability to meet deadlines.

  • Proficiency in computer usage for documentation, communication, and reporting.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.

  • Legally authorized to work in the United States.


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Industry experience in mining or related fields.

  • MSHA Trainer Certification.
