The Mental Health Counselor role is entirely remote, allowing you the flexibility to provide care from your own sanctuary while maintaining connection with peers through virtual meetings and consultations. Key Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive assessments and evaluations to identify clients' mental health issues, followed by the development of tailored treatment plans aimed at promoting recovery and growth.
• Provide individualized therapy sessions utilizing evidence-based modalities, ensuring plans are specifically designed to address the unique needs and preferences of each client.
• Establish and periodically review therapeutic goals alongside clients, actively monitoring their progress throughout the treatment journey while adjusting approaches as necessary.
• Facilitate teletherapy sessions for clients who prefer virtual engagement, ensuring accessible and consistent support across various circumstances.
• Maintain meticulous and timely documentation of client interactions, treatment progress, and clinical assessments, adhering to both ethical guidelines and regulatory standards.
• Participate in ongoing professional development initiatives, including workshops, webinars, and peer consultations, to enhance your skills and knowledge in mental health care.

The Mental Health Counselor at Humankind Family Therapy primarily serves individuals grappling with trauma, anxiety disorders, and depression. Our clientele represents a diverse range of backgrounds and experiences, each requiring an empathetic and tailored approach. You will work closely with clients to foster a safe, trusting environment where healing can occur and personal growth is encouraged.

Qualifications

• A valid and current license to practice as a therapist in New York State, such as LCSW, LMHC, LMFT, or PsyD.
• A Master’s or Doctoral degree in Social Work, Mental Health Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy, or Psychology is essential for this position.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills are paramount, enabling the establishment of a safe and trustworthy therapeutic rapport with clients.
• Demonstrated empathy, compassion, and a non-judgmental attitude towards clients facing diverse mental health challenges.

Preferred Experience

• Prior experience in a telehealth setting is highly desirable, alongside familiarity with digital communication tools that facilitate virtual therapy.
• Continued education or training specific to trauma-informed care, cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), or similar evidence-based approaches will enhance your application.
• Experience working with varied populations and an understanding of cultural competence in mental health treatment is a plus.
