Summary:
The Houston Astros are seeking a creative and highly organized Social Media Manager to manage and grow the digital presence of Astros-affiliated platforms, including The Astros Foundation, Houston Open, Daikin Park, Orbit, and the Shooting Stars. This role is responsible for developing, executing and measuring social media strategies that elevate brand voice, increase fan engagement, and strengthen community connection across all ancillary accounts.
The ideal candidate is both strategic and hands-on, with strong content creation skills, a deep understanding of sports and internet culture, and the ability to manage multiple brand voices simultaneously.

Key Responsibilities
  • Developing and maintaining the Houston Astros Social Media Strategy & Brand Voice.
  • Oversight to the Houston Astros social strategy and managing the team for execution.
  • Develop and maintain distinct content strategies and brand voices for:

    • The Astros Foundation
    • The Astros Golf Foundation/Houston Open
    • Daikin Park
    • Orbit
    • Shooting Stars

  • Ensure all content aligns with overall Houston Astros brand standards and marketing objectives.
  • Build and manage content calendars around game schedules, promotions, community events, and key cultural moments.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Content Creation & Publishing
  • Work with the content team to create platform-optimized content including short-form video, photography, graphics, and written copy.
  • Capture real-time content at games, community events, mascot appearances, and performances.
  • Working hand in hand with Corporate Partnership team on Sponsored content obligations and execution.
  • Lead the content strategy for social-first assets for platforms including but not limited to Instagram, TikTok, X, Facebook, and YouTube.

Astros Foundation Management
  • Develop and execute the social strategy for the Astros Foundation.
  • Responsible for managing weekly meetings and periodic progress reporting to Marketing and Foundation leadership.
  • Monitor and engage with fans, partners, donors, and community members across all ancillary accounts.
  • Respond to comments, messages, and mentions in appropriate brand voice and tone.
  • Foster positive fan interaction and online community growth.

Campaign & Event Coverage
  • Lead digital coverage for charitable initiatives, ballpark events, promotions, and team-affiliated appearances.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to support integrated marketing campaigns.
  • Coordinate with on-site staff for live content needs.

Analytics & Reporting
  • Track performance metrics and analyze engagement, reach, and audience growth.
  • Provide regular reporting and insights to optimize future content strategies.
  • Identify opportunities for innovation and audience expansion.
  • Deliver sponsored content reporting and analytics to Corporate Partnerships team.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Digital Media, or related field.
  • 4+ years of experience managing brand or organizational social media accounts.
  • Strong understanding of major social platforms and content trends.
  • Proficiency in content creation tools (Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, CapCut, or similar).
  • Experience with short-form video production and editing.
  • Excellent writing and communication skills.
  • Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays as required by game and event schedules.

Preferred:
  • Experience in sports, entertainment, or live event environments.
  • Familiarity with social media analytics tools and reporting platforms.
  • Knowledge of Houston sports culture and fan communities.

Work Environment

The noise level is usually moderate but can be loud within the stadium environment. Must be able to work in all types of outdoor weather conditions and within a stadium environment.
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be required to stand for long periods of time, walk long distances and/or climb up/down stairs; may be required to stoop, kneel, crouch, sit and/or move/lift up to 25lbs of equipment or supplies; use hands to handle or feel objects, tools or controls.
