Health First Medical Center invites applications for a full-time Physician Assistant position, providing essential healthcare services within our dynamic Primary Care department. Work Environment

This position requires full-time on-site work at our hospital facility, with regular hours from Monday to Friday, concluding at 5:00 PM. You will be working in a supportive primary care outpatient setting, surrounded by professionals who share a common goal of enhancing patient care through teamwork and evidence-based practices.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough physical examinations and obtain detailed patient histories to evaluate health status.
  • Order and analyze diagnostic tests, including blood tests and imaging studies, to determine the proper course of action.
  • Diagnose acute and chronic health conditions, developing treatment plans tailored to individual patient needs.
  • Prescribe appropriate medications and monitor their effectiveness, ensuring safe dosage and adherence to treatment protocols.
  • Maintain comprehensive and accurate patient records within our electronic health record (EHR) system, ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations.
  • Educate patients and their families about medical conditions, treatment options, and healthy lifestyle choices to promote overall wellness.
  • Participate in preventive care initiatives and community health outreach programs.
  • Collaborate closely with physicians and nurse practitioners to coordinate care and optimize patient outcomes.
  • Stay updated with the latest medical practices and guidelines through continuous education and professional development.
Patient Population / Client Focus

You will primarily serve a diverse patient population seeking primary care services. This includes individuals with chronic illnesses, acute health issues, preventative health needs, and health education requirements. A commitment to understanding and respecting the cultural and socio-economic backgrounds of patients is crucial in promoting accessible and quality healthcare.

Qualifications
  • A Bachelor's Degree from an accredited Physician Assistant program is mandatory.
  • A minimum of 2 years of clinical experience in a relevant healthcare setting, with a strong foundation in primary care practices.
  • Current certification as a Physician Assistant (PA-C) and a valid New York State Physician Assistant license.
  • DEA registration is required to prescribe medications.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to engage effectively with patients, families, and team members.
  • Strong ethical principles and a commitment to patient advocacy.
  • Team-oriented mindset along with patience and resilience in problem-solving scenarios.
Preferred Experience
  • Experience in acute care, family health, urgent care, internal medicine, or emergency medicine is preferred.
  • Bilingual capabilities are a plus, enhancing our ability to serve the community.

Compensation and Benefits
