Work Environment

The Physician Assistant position is an onsite role within our facility, working directly in a busy hospital dedicated to primary care. You will work an engaging Monday through Friday schedule, totaling 40 hours per week, with the last patient appointments typically concluding at 5:00 pm. The collaborative spirit among the medical staff—which includes 5 board-certified physicians and 5 nurse practitioners—creates a supportive atmosphere where teamwork thrives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough physical examinations and review patients’ medical histories to assess their health effectively.
  • Order and analyze diagnostic tests, including blood tests and imaging studies, to inform your clinical decisions.
  • Diagnose a variety of health conditions, tailoring treatment plans to address both chronic and acute health issues.
  • Propose appropriate treatments for chronic and infectious diseases, ensuring a patient-centered approach.
  • Prescribe medications as per legal and organizational guidelines, monitoring patient responses and adjusting treatment as necessary.
  • Maintain accurate and comprehensive medical records, ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations.
  • Provide education to patients and their families regarding health conditions, treatment options, and preventative care practices.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to develop care plans that enhance patient outcomes and support health promotion initiatives.
  • Engage in continuous professional development, participating in research and discussions aimed at enhancing clinical skills.
Patient Population / Client Focus

The Physician Assistant will engage with a diverse patient population, providing care for individuals across various age groups presenting with both complex chronic health conditions and acute medical concerns. Emphasizing preventive care, you will work to educate patients about healthy lifestyle choices and disease prevention.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field with a Physician Assistant focus.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience practicing as a Physician Assistant in a clinic, hospital, or emergency room setting.
  • Valid Physician Assistant license in New York State and hold the designation of PA-C.
  • Current DEA registration is required to prescribe medications.
  • Strong knowledge of health and patient care regulations, demonstrating a solid ethical foundation in clinical practice.
  • Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to connect empathetically with patients and their families.
  • A collaborative mindset and a positive attitude toward teamwork within a healthcare setting.
Preferred Experience
  • Experience in primary care settings, with a focus on chronic disease management and preventive health.
  • Familiarity with electronic health record systems to manage patient information effectively.
  • Proficient in both verbal and written communication, with bilingual abilities considered a plus.
Compensation and Benefits
