We are seeking a visionary Senior Director of Construction Delivery to lead one of Genentech's most significant capital initiatives-a billion-dollar-plus CAPEX project at our South San Francisco campus. This pivotal leadership role offers the unique opportunity to shape the strategic vision and execution of a large-scale, complex construction program while driving transformative change across our capital project delivery capabilities. You will command a diverse, integrated team of senior project managers, engineers, and functional leads, overseeing every phase of project lifecycle from inception through completion. Your strategic oversight, exceptional leadership, and unwavering commitment to safety, quality, and compliance will be instrumental in delivering world-class results that align with our Campus vision and advance Genentech's global operations. If you're a proven construction leader with deep expertise in managing complex, large-scale projects, a passion for building high-performing teams, and a drive to champion innovation and continuous improvement, we invite you to apply.

    The Opportunity

    • Drive strategic construction oversight for significant capital investments in alignment with the Campus vision plan.

    • Provide strategic construction leadership to a diverse team of architects, contractors, consultants, project managers, and general contractors.

    • Cultivate a collaborative and high-performance team environment for seamless project execution and delivery, leveraging internal and external resources effectively.

    • Oversee the entire lifecycle of large-scale construction projects, ensuring alignment with strategic goals from inception through to completion.

    • Ensure timely, cost-effective, and quality delivery of projects while meeting financial targets and strategic objectives.

    • Guarantee compliance with local, state, and federal regulations and maintain rigorous standards in all aspects of project delivery.

    • Strategically engage with government bodies to secure necessary permits and approvals for project advancement.

    • Safety, Quality, and Compliance: Champion a world-class safety culture for the entire project. Ensure the project adheres to all Genentech engineering standards, and regulatory compliance from design through final validation.

    • Supplier & Contract Management: Lead the selection and strategic management of construction managers, general contractors and other key suppliers capable of executing a project of this scale. Personally manage the relationships with the senior leadership of these partner firms to ensure performance and alignment.

    • Organizational Improvement: Drive continuous improvement initiatives not only for the project but also to advance the capital project delivery capabilities within the broader CVP and CD organization.

The leader is responsible for fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and excellence by providing direction and coaching on how best to execute the work, helping to resolve escalated issues, and guiding senior staff in their career development.

    • Spearhead the bidding and negotiation processes, expertly managing contracts with contractors, consultants, and other critical stakeholders.

    • Establish and maintain robust communication channels to keep all stakeholders informed and aligned.

    • Continuously evaluate and refine project delivery processes to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.

    • Stay abreast of industry trends, championing best practices and integrating emerging technologies into project delivery strategies.

    • Ensure adherence to Roche directives, local building codes, fire protection regulations, procurement guidelines, and technical standards.

    • Define and implement strategic frameworks for planning, procurement, execution, commissioning, and financial resource coordination.

    • Foster cross-functional collaboration with global stakeholders, including colleagues in the SET network, to leverage lessons learned and best practices.
