Job Title: Host / Hostess
Department: Centro
Division: Centro Front of House
Reports to: Centro General Manager
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Summary: Greets and seats customers in a fashion that contributes to the smooth, efficient operation of the lounge and keeps the area around the front entrance and hostess station as clean and orderly by performing the following duties. Other duties may be assigned.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Accepts arriving guests as they enter with a cordial greeting and using guest’s name whenever possible.
- Escorts to assigned areas and solicits rapport to accommodate special needs and/or requests.
- Notifies servers of new seats in their section to ensure the customers receive immediate and proper attention.
- Maintains a highly visible appearance during entire shift by remaining at the hostess stand.
- Works as coat-check attendant if directed.
- Maintains a clean hostess stand by assisting with vacuuming, sweeping, general cleaning, and side work duties.
- Checks the proper set-up of tables and seating prior to opening.
- Reports in writing any maintenance or housekeeping discrepancies to management immediately.
- Always exhibits a professional appearance and maintains a friendly, cheerful, and courteous demeanor.
Qualifications:

Language Ability:
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
Math Ability:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret graphs.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to conduct written or oral instructions. Ability to handle challenges involving concrete variables in standardized situations.
Computer Skills:
Capability of learning or knowing how to use internet software programs that pertain to role.

Education/Experience:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands, reach with hands and arms, climb, balance, talk and hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, ability to adjust focus, and ability to see color.
Work Environment:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to outdoor weather conditions, extreme cold (non-weather), extreme heat (non-weather), wet or humid conditions (non-weather), and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
