  • Ensure timely clearance and movement of shipments, optimizing routing to meet customer delivery deadlines.
  • Coordinate freight consolidation, deconsolidation, and cargo handling to maximize efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
  • Lead and manage gateway staff, including warehouse and administrative teams, to achieve operational targets.
  • Conduct training programs to ensure staff competency in freight forwarding processes and systems.
  • Develop and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to evaluate and enhance team performance.
  • Ensure compliance with international trade regulations, including customs procedures, export controls, and documentation requirements.
  • Manage relationships with customs brokers, airlines, ground handlers (CFS), shipping lines, and other regulatory bodies.
  • Stay updated on industry regulations, ensuring the gateway's operations align with legal and ethical standards.
  • Collaborate with internal departments (sales, customer service, operations) to align service delivery with client needs.
  • Build strong relationships with carriers, agents, and third-party logistics providers to support efficient operations.
  • Act as the primary contact for escalations and problem resolution in gateway activities.
  • Analyze shipment data, cost metrics, and operational workflows to identify areas for improvement.
  • Prepare detailed operational reports for senior management, highlighting successes and recommending enhancements.
  • Conduct root cause analyses for delays or disruptions and implement preventive measures.
  • Streamline gateway workflows to improve speed, accuracy, and efficiency.
  • Implement technology solutions, such as transportation management systems (TMS) and electronic documentation, to enhance productivity.
  • Lead initiatives to reduce operational costs while maintaining high service quality.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in logistics, supply chain management, international trade, or a related field.
  • 8-10 years of experience in freight forwarding, with a minimum of 5 years in a managerial role.
  • Strong understanding of air and land freight forwarding processes, including customs clearance and documentation.
  • Proven ability to lead diverse teams in a high-pressure environment.
  • Proficiency in freight forwarding software (e.g., CargoWise, Descartes, or similar) and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
Essential Job Functions
  • Certification in freight forwarding or supply chain management (e.g., FIATA, IATA, CSCMP, or similar).
  • Familiarity with electronic data interchange (EDI) systems and paperless logistics operations.
  • Experience with Lean, Six Sigma, or other process improvement methodologies.
  • Ability to work flexible hours to accommodate international time zones and 24/7 operations.
  • Occasional travel to other gateway locations or industry events as required.
  • Ability to work in an office environment majority of the time.
  • Complete and assist with the completion of assigned tasks/projects in a timely manner.
  • Comply with all Company policies and procedures
