Job Title: Yard Dog Driver

Pay Rate: $17.75/hr.

Shift: 6 AM- 6 PM

Benefits: Medica, Dental, AD&D, PSL

Summary of Functions: Yard Dog driver is responsible for all movement of shipping containers and hoppers. Forklift Driver is responsible for loading and unloading trailers and containers, transferring product into assigned rows or racks, transporting empty and filled bins of product to various locations of the plant while operating in a safe and efficient manner. Responsible for documents related to finished goods. Attention to detail is a must. Other duties not listed may be assigned as needed.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

• Operate Yard Dog (will be operating forklift when not operating Yard Dog).
• Before operating the assigned forklift, check oil, radiator water, checking for obvious hydraulic leaks, etc.
• Report any dysfunctional parts of the forklift to the Supervisor immediately.
• Keep forklift clean. Clean the forklift if it is dirty before entering the production areas. If the forklift is leaking hydraulic fluid or any other fluids, discontinue use immediately and notify supervisor.
• Clean up any oil and/or fluids that may have spilled on the floor.
• Complete all information on the pre-operational check list.
• Never leave blank spaces without an explanation.
• Ensure that your assigned work area is clean and well organized.
• Obey all posted traffic signs and observe safe driving habits. NO HORSEPLAY, think of personal safety and the safety of co-workers. When transferring product to another area, cover bins with cardboard lids when driving through curtains to avoid product spills.
• When retrieving packaging materials, check to make sure pallets and materials are clean before entering production areas.
• Notify area supervisor if inventory of materials such as boxes, bags, bin liners, etc. start to run low.
• When filling bins make sure that the bins are free of contamination such as trash, mold, dust, etc.
• At the end of the shift, return all forklifts/yard dogs to the assigned areas.
• Ability to follow safety rules.

Food Safety Requirements/Responsibilities:

• Compliance with all GMP, Food Safety and General Safety rules and regulations.
• Compliance with local, state, federal and corporate food safety regulatory standards as well as company quality standards provided by facility, regional, and corporate quality authorities.
• Knowledge of Client's Food Safety Management System and its application in a processing environment.

Organization Relationships:

• Will report directly to Shipping Manager.
• Will work with Shipping Manager to ensure food safety and maintenance of Client's Food Safety Management System.

Qualifications:

• Three to six months related experience and/or training. Must have valid driver's license to operate Yard Dog.
• Must pass forklift written and driving test with 90% or better.
• Must be able to read and write in English, understand weight and quantities and understand basic math calculations.
• High school diploma or general education degree (GED) or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education or experience.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, company policy, handbook, etc. and all instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Physical Demands:

• Must be able to lift 25 pounds.

Work Environment:

• The employee will be exposed to chemicals, loud noise, salt, red dyes, and ingredient odors while performing his/her work duties.
• The employee must adhere to Good Manufacturing Practices while performing his/her duties.
