Job description

Position Description The Marketing &Public Engagement Outreach Specialist serves as one of Five Rivers MetroParks' primary community ambassadors, building awareness of the organization's mission, parks, programs and services through presentations, outreach and public engagement. Working as part of the Marketing & Public Engagement team, this position connects MetroParks with community organizations, residents and stakeholders to strengthen public understanding, participation and support while ensuring consistent messaging and brand representation. Duties/Responsibilities To perform this job successfully, an individual must perform essential duties to expected performance standards.

Represents Five Rivers MetroParks at in-person and virtual outreach opportunities, community events and organizational meetings, and other public engagements to increase awareness of the organization's mission, parks, programs, and services. Proactively seeks opportunities to meet with and present to a variety of community-based organizations and groups in Montgomery County to inform them about and raise awareness of Five Rivers MetroParks.

Develops and implements outreach strategies and annual outreach plans that align with MetroParks' marketing objectives and organizational priorities. Serves as the primary spokesperson for MetroParks' Speakers Bureau, responds to public speaking requests, and coordinates staff participation as appropriate/needed. Supports community engagement efforts by maintaining relationships with community organizations and representing MetroParks on committees, boards, and community groups.

Maintains a centralized database of community contacts, outreach activities and organizational relationships to support coordinated agency outreach. Helps develop and distribute key messages, talking points and outreach materials that consistently communicate MetroParks' mission, priorities and brand. Develops, maintains, and distributes presentations and supporting materials for staff use during outreach and public engagement activities.

Collects and shares community feedback, observations, interests and emerging needs with appropriate MetroParks staff to help inform outreach strategies, communications and programs. Cultivates relationships with community organizations and groups to expand awareness of MetroParks and engage new audiences.. Coordinates the planning, procurement, inventory and distribution of promotional materials and informational resources that support outreach and community engagement activities

Manages field requests for promotional and informational items. Assists with planning and implementation of public-facing MetroParks events, including ribbon cuttings, groundbreakings and community celebrations. ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES Supports the marketing team and assists with other tasks as needed.

Encourages and supports staff participation in outreach activities by promoting the value of community engagement and each department's role in representing MetroParks. Collaborates with Volunteer Services staff to recruit, train, and support volunteers who assist with outreach and community engagement activities. Uses technology and outreach tools to improve efficiency, communication and stewardship of organizational resources.

Performs special projects and serves on special committees as required or assigned. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES None. Minimum Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

A combination of appropriate education, training, coursework and experience may qualify an applicant to demonstrate required knowledge, skills, and abilities. An example of an acceptable qualification is: Bachelor's degree with emphasis in marketing, public relations, communications, journalism or related area, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Three years of community relations and related experience.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Valid Ohio Driver's License that meets Five Rivers MetroParks'insurance carrier guidelines. Additional Information Candidates must successfully complete a background check and drug screening test prior to employment.
