Job description

Overview
Kimley-Horn has an opportunity for a motivated Transit Planner to join our team in Atlanta, Georgia (GA) contributing to various, large transportation and transit infrastructure projects.
Responsibilities
  • Has a strategic mindset and a passion for leading large transportation/transit planning projects.
  • Leading transportation planning for transit projects including Commuter Rail, Bus Rapid Transit, Light Rail, and Fixed and On Demand services.
  • Collaborating with municipalities, regional entities, transit agencies, and members of the public.
  • The selected candidate will contribute to the marketing, management, and production of transportation and transit planning projects; which may include active transportation plans, corridor studies, safety studies, transit plans, and circulation plans.
  • Various tasks may include short and long-range transportation planning, overseeing public and stakeholder outreach activities, and technical analysis.
  • This role will require a high degree of multi-disciplinary coordination.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills are critical.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering, City or Urban Planning, or a related field.
  • 4+ years of transportation-focused planning experience, which may include several of the following areas:
    o Corridor planning
    o General Plans, Specific Plans, or Precise Plans
    o Short-Range Transit Plans
    o Active transportation plans
    o Multi-modal concept design
    o Transit operations and performance analysis
    o Traffic and bicycle/pedestrian analysis
  • Proficiency in analysis of transportation data
  • Experience communicating and working with clients
  • Experience managing projects and tasks
  • Experience interacting with the public as part of project outreach activities
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills
  • Strong organizational skills and detail-orientation
  • Ability to balance priorities among multiple projects
  • Self-motivated team player
