Position Overview
The Ag/Commercial Loan Officer Trainee supports FCCU's business and agricultural lending team by assisting with loan analysis, underwriting, portfolio management, and member relationship development. This role provides hands-on experience in commercial and agricultural lending while building expertise in credit analysis, risk assessment, and loan origination. Ideal candidates are relationship-focused, analytical, and eager to develop a successful career in commercial and agricultural banking.
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Support the origination, underwriting, and closing of agricultural and commercial loans while ensuring compliance with Credit Union policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Build relationships with business and agricultural members by providing exceptional service, identifying financial solutions, and supporting business development efforts.
  • Assist with financial analysis, credit underwriting, and loan presentations by evaluating financial statements, cash flow, collateral, and repayment capacity.
  • Partner with lending team members to identify risks, structure loan terms, prepare documentation, and support the loan approval and closing process.
  • Manage member inquiries and maintain strong relationships by providing timely support, resolving issues, and identifying opportunities to deepen member engagement.
  • Support portfolio management activities by monitoring loan performance, maintaining accurate records, and assisting with past-due and problem loan management.
  • Participate in credit training, lending development programs, and hands-on learning opportunities to build expertise in commercial and agricultural lending.
  • Represent FCCU professionally within the community and at business events while contributing to branch growth and member relationship development.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in business, finance, or a related field, economics, agriculture, or four years of relevant experience in lieu of formal education.
  • One year experience in customer service.
  • Strong analytical skills with coursework or exposure to financial statement analysis.
  • Basic understanding of banking regulations and lending principles.
  • Proficiency in Excel.
