The Teller I serves as the frontline to customer relations, by assisting with routine banking transactions and basic customer service requests with speed, accuracy, and politeness, creating loyal, satisfied customers who value their banking relationship with our Company.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Cash checks and disburse funds after verifying signatures when applicable and sufficiency of funds to support withdrawals.
  2. Accept deposits, confirming accuracy of transaction.
  3. Prepare, verify, and issue official checks and loan proceed checks.
  4. Prepare, verify, and process deposits from night deposit box, loan payments, withdrawals, currency and coin orders, safe deposit box payments, etc.
  5. Evaluate checks to verify endorsements, dates, identification of persons receiving payments, bank names, and overall legality of the documents.
  6. Enter transactions in Bankโ€™s Teller Capture software with accuracy and precision, recording all transactions and producing customer receipts.
  7. Maintain a neat and organized work area that ensures the safety of all negotiables and confidential records.
  8. Make sales referrals suggesting alternative banking options, including the cross-selling of the Bankโ€™s products and services.
  9. Manage risk in every transaction and detect fraudulent transactions to prevent losses.
  10. Recognize customer needs and introduce new products and services (credit cards, savings accounts, insurance, etc.).
  11. Reconcile cash drawer to the accepted Companyโ€™s balancing expectations by proving cash transactions, counting, and packaging currency and coin.
  12. Assist customers with check order requests, online banking access needs, and debit card support, making referrals to other branch staff as needed.
  13. Maintain defined supply of currency and turn in excess and mutilated/unfit currency to the Head Teller.
  14. Comply with bank operations and security procedures and dual-control requirements.
  15. Understand and practice the importance of keeping all customer and banking information confidential.
  16. Maintain enthusiasm about the Companyโ€™s LIFT program or any marketing campaign. Understand the importance of distributing the Tell-a-Friend coupons.
  17. Perform new account sales presentation, in person and over the phone.
  18. Complete training, as assigned, within the expected timeframes.

Requirements:


  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Proficient verbal and written communication skills, including excellent telephone etiquette and legible handwriting
  • Active listening skills and ability to ask questions to clarify/determine customer need
  • Ability to maintain composure and professionalism when dealing with upset customers
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Excellent math skills
  • Trustworthiness and ability to act with integrity
  • Be customer satisfaction-oriented with interpersonal skills to contribute to a productive and team oriented work environment
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally and to stand for extended periods of time
  • Ability to travel, as needed
  • One year of cash handling experience preferred
  • Two years of customer service experience preferred
