Position Overview

Family Insight Counseling Center is seeking a dedicated Full-Time Geriatric Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) who is passionate about improving the mental health and overall well-being of senior clients. Work Environment

This position is fully remote, offering flexibility while ensuring our counselors maintain a work-life balance. The standard work schedule runs from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday. Our clinic utilizes modern telehealth technology, allowing for seamless communication with clients and collaboration with healthcare professionals. You will be equipped with robust resources to facilitate assessments and therapy sessions comfortably and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

As a Geriatric Mental Health Counselor, you will:

• Conduct thorough mental health assessments for senior clients to identify their unique emotional and psychological needs.
• Lead both individual and group therapy sessions focused on helping seniors manage age-related transitions, such as retirement, loss, and health changes.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals to develop comprehensive care plans that address the holistic needs of elderly clients.
• Educate families and support staff about strategies to enhance the emotional well-being of senior residents.
• Implement cognitive stimulation programs designed to bolster mental acuity and encourage social engagement among elderly clients.
• Provide grief and loss counseling to support residents and their families facing end-of-life issues.
• Continuously evaluate and monitor client progress, adjusting treatment plans to facilitate optimal outcomes.

Patient Population / Client Focus

This role targets seniors who may face a variety of mental health challenges including depression, anxiety, dementia, and the emotional turmoil associated with significant life changes. Your expertise will be instrumental in fostering a supportive environment where clients feel safe to express their feelings and navigate their mental health journeys.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess:

• A Master's degree in Mental Health Counseling from an accredited institution.
• A valid Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) license in New York State.
• A minimum of four years of recent experience in geriatric counseling or similar roles.
• Strong ability to assess and provide tailored mental health services for older adults.
• Exceptional communication skills, with an emphasis on empathy and cultural sensitivity when working with diverse populations.
• A comprehensive understanding of ethical and legal considerations in geriatric mental health counseling.

Preferred Experience

Preference will be given to candidates with:

• Additional training or certification in geriatric mental health or age-related conditions.
• Experience employing evidence-based practices in senior mental health care.

Compensation and Benefits

This position offers a competitive salary ranging from $90,000 to $105,000 annually, complemented by a generous sign-on bonus. In addition, our benefits package includes:
