Job description

Job Summary Overview
The position is responsible for originating mortgage loans and advises borrowers throughout the residential lending experience. Responsible for building effective relationships within the community and participating in events (e.g., Realtor, Title Company, Builder, Chamber meetings, etc.) and other opportunities to educate referral sources about Arizona Financial Credit Union.
Essential Job Functions
  • Originates mortgage and consumer equity loan products.
  • Understands benefits of all loan products offered and effectively make recommendations to assist borrowers in meeting individual financial needs.
  • Delivers a highly referrable experience to members/borrowers.
  • Maintains timely and professional communication (both written and verbal) with internal team members and external business partners (e.g., Real Estate and Title agents, etc.).
  • Educates and promotes other Arizona Financial Credit Union loan and deposit products to borrowers.
  • Educates and promotes Arizona Financial Credit Union services (e.g., MAC, AFIS, AFFS, etc.).
  • Participates in supporting other team members with increasing knowledge, experience and sales.
  • Prepares and presents loan presentations and participate in loan committee discussions.
  • Partners with Residential Operations to complete all required tasks and obtains all documentation identified within the Needs List and Conditional Loan Approval.
  • Runs and interprets Automated Underwriting Services (AUS).
  • Maintains knowledge of AFCU Rate Lock Policy and submit rate lock requests.
  • Participates in ongoing training and education for loan products and underwriting guidelines.
  • Delivers and installs AFCU construction signs and name riders.
  • Mentors Retail staff to increase knowledge of products and generates referral opportunities.
  • Conducts site inspections of properties in Arizona Financial Credit Union's field of membership.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Requirements
Required Qualifications:
Minimum Education and Experience
High School diploma or GED and one (1) year experience in Residential Lending as a Mortgage Loan Originator or in a sales related position withing the Retail or Consumer Lending field.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Working knowledge of Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, FHA, and VA loan guidelines along with investor guidelines and policies. Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word. Work requires strong organizational skills, professional written and verbal communication, self-direction and teamwork. Ability to provide client service, support credit union objectives, and produce quality work within tight timeframes. Ability to resolve operational issues.
Licenses, Training, and Certifications Required
Maintain compliance with the federal Secure and Fair Enforcement for Mortgage Licensing (S.A.F.E.) Act of 2008. Arizona Financial Credit Union employees acting as Mortgage Loan Originators (MLO) must be registered with the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System and Registry (NMLS or Registry) and obtain a unique identifier (NMLS Number).

  • Must be able to travel within Arizona Financial Credit Union's field of membership.

  • Ability to connect and perform job functions while working in an office (or remotely), including sufficient access to internet and phone.
  • Must be available and flexible to work mornings, evenings and weekends, as required.
