Job description

Overview
The Systems Administrator supports the US Department of Energy Office of Scientific and Technical Information (DOE OSTI) vision to ensure long-term preservation of and access to DOE scientific and technical information through support of mission system administration. This is an onsite position, in Oak Ridge, TN with no remote option.
Responsibilities
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
  • Install, configure, maintain, and monitor Windows server based computer systems.
  • Complete vulnerability remediation and software patching.
  • Complete system baseline hardening using DISA STIGs.
  • Manage privileged accounts and group memberships in both on-prem and cloud environments.
  • Deploy and configure mission supporting applications and infrastructure.
  • Develop the automation of routine and repeatable tasks.
  • Document systems' policies and procedures.
  • Coordinate and communicate activities, status updates, outage notifications and schedule information with clients, other IT personnel, and other team members.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Education, Training, Experience
  • Minimum of 3 years' system administration experience.
  • Experience with Windows operating
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Active Directory (Directory Services, Group Policy, Domain Trusts, Certificate Services, Right Management Services).
  • Experience administrating Microsoft M365
  • Familiarity using VMware, Promox, RedHat Virtualization, or similar virtualization
  • Familiarity with Omnissa Horizon or similar remote connectivity solutions.
  • Strong troubleshooting and solution research
  • Experience with scripting languages such as PowerShell or
  • Experience with task
  • Experience with centralized patch management
  • Working knowledge common network
  • Familiarity with configuration management practices for operating systems and major
  • Familiarity with system documentation standards and
  • Demonstrated excellent customer
  • Demonstrated ability to clearly and effectively communicate both verbally and in written
  • Strong planning and organizational skills with attention to detail and a focus on

  • Preferred:
    • Prefer candidates to have or be working toward a degree in computer science, mathematics, or related field from an accredited college or university or with equivalent background.

Ability to provide proof of US Citizenship on your first day of employment to obtain a DOE HSPD-12 Badge in accordance with the terms of the contract. Department of Energy OSTI's policy direction requires all employees employed on this contract to be citizens of the United States.
